Apple Gift Card Scam?

Still lost in the '60s
Lately I am seeing ads on Facebook promoting massage services.
When I ask for details they reply that they only accept payments via Apple Gift Cards.
This was a red flag for me, so I did not pursue them any futher to see how it actually would play out.
Is there a scam involving Apple Gift Cards, and if so, how does it work?

As Forum Mod said, that's how the scam works. Apple Gift card is one of the most popular these days, so that's what they use. Other times they will prefer other cards. As long as people stick with cash only, and exchange the cash in person, it is safer (that still doesn't eliminate cases where the scammer use other excuses to get you out, once they get the money though).

It's been discussed over and over. Almost no legitimate use of gift cards exists, except for a few providers who will take one for a deposit. Absolutely NEVER use them with randoms, especially those posting on Facebook. No legit sex worker posts about services on social media sites, they know they will get banned.
