Anti Asian Racism in Vancouver

Try not to let your posts get over the top or this thread will be closed down. A few posts are quite close to the line and I am giving the benefit of the doubt that adults are able to discus racism.

I saw this clip on Instagram, where three generations of mixed women, grandma, mother and daughter showing up one by one. In the clip you can see that grandma is purely Asian. Mother has the half Asian half White mixed look. And lastly the daughter looks indistinguishable from an average white girl. It broke my heart. Yes, three generations of interracial marriages, but it's always white male with minority female, for THREE generations.

I don't deny that to be the truth (I even said as much earlier), but a single Instagram post to trigger those feelings preys on your primal instincts, not to mention social media algorithms. Your observational anecdotal evidence is probably preferred, and less biased even if it is slightly biased.

So no, interracial marriages don't always help bridge gaps between majority and minority races. Sometimes, it reinforces racist supremacy ideology and forces minority cultures and identities to die out.

Saying it reinforces racist supremacy ideology without providing how that is done feels a bit shortsighted. I'm hoping your perspective is purely from your personal experience and nothing else. Intuitively, I think it's fair to support the idea that interracial relationships tend to foster better racial understanding rather than the opposite, but you can't let just the visible apples assume the majority (e.g. social media positive feedback loop affecting your perception of reality).

JFC this thread is a shit show. The topic is *what to do about racism against Asians*, racism that clearly IS increasing. The topic is not WHETHER racism exists (the existence racism is a fact, you dimwits!), not "what Asians did to bring it on themselves" (that is, what excuse racists are using this time), or any other ignorant nonsense.

The level of denial, the endless what-about-ism, the constant derailing of the subject...I guess I forgot what a bunch of ignorant fools we've collected here on PERB. It's hard to believe some of you people can put your own socks on without an instruction manual.

Whatever beliefs you base on some drivel you read on Facebook, or what your white friends or co-workers say or don't say, none of that matters. Facts matter, not your gormless anecdotes.

In any case, whatever is to be done about racism against Asians, it may require that an entire generation of clueless idiots die off so that people with basic intelligence can get on with it, instead of being dragged backward into the swamp by a pack of old pea-brained rednecks.

The facts are there for anyone to see. Like Vanperb said,

So what to do? Am I supposed to pluck people's eyes from their heads and point them at this kind of information? Even if you force people to see facts, some people have such a strong attachment to their fantasy world that facts don't matter to them.

If they even believe that racism exists, they pull shit like blaming Chinese people because they took er jerbs, or bought our houses, or because a virus originated in the country where their ancestors were born, or whatever the excuse is for hating them this week.

I honestly think trying to reason with such people is a waste of time. What you do is shut them down.

Make racist comments at work? You're fired. Spread some racist bullshit on Facebook? Ban your ass from Facebook. That moron Trump getting banned from Twitter is a good example. De-platform the assholes. Make it impossible to keep doing what they're doing without consequences.

You give these guys an inch and they will spread their diseased way of thinking as far and wide as possible. My solution is zero tolerance for racists. No tolerance for intolerance.
