Here's a thought.

I don't give a flying F**k whether Americans, Europeans, Belgians, Kenyans, Australians, or anyone else, thinks we have our own culture and identity. I know we do. I know what being Canadian means and I'm proud to be one. I have no particular interest in explaining it to anyone who isn't interested in listening.

Most people from other countries, who have actually spent time here, love this country as well. Some don't. Because, you know what, were not perfect.

All this mud-slinging, back and forth between Americans and Canadians reminds me of a bunch of monkeys standing on 2 banks of a river, screaming and throwing pebbles at each other. No real reason, except "they are the other guys". Just proof that we've still got a lot of evolving to do.

The fact that Americans of any political persuasion could elect this dufus to the highest office in the country....is absolutely baffling and speaks volumes to the quality of canditate that the Democrats put forward...Gen Wes Clark or Senetor John McCain could had either of these signifcantly flawed candidates for breakfast either in the battlefield or the debating form....

Not even worth it. Just back and forth with the same bullshit that America is so much better than Canada. I don't take cheap shots at the US to make myself feel better as a Canadian, so you Americans should keep your mouths shut too if all you're going to do is start a cross border argument. Be proud of your country, whether it be Canada or America, and leave it at that. No one is going to win this argument as it is a matter of personal pride and love for your country. We don't need to here the "my country is better than your country" crap because we all need each other in some way or another.

If you turn on your average American TV show you see that "taking cheap shots at others" is pretty much widely accepted as cool and proper etiquette nowadays! LOL

As for being proud of ones country and leave it at that... well, normally when one has to 'take shots' at others its BECAUSE one is not particularily proud of him/her self. Probably this 'nationalism' stuff is simply one symptom of a deeper problem becoming pervasive in society.

That all said, I agree... why argue, no one is getting anywhere.

actually sw and i agree on something, shock of shocks, a fighter plane would never be allowed to get that close to a carrier group besides the carrier group it also has awacs up aabove looking down and also a fighter cap that is usually out about 150 to 200 miles so no plane can get that close.

1) Because stanozolol would not have helped to enhance performance. If anything, it would have hindered it. Stanozolol is a steroid that helps to build muscle; a cheat would use a steroid in the months pre-competition, never during competition. Ben Johnson wasn't caught previously because he was doing what everyone was doing, yes everyone even the USA, and knew how to beat the tests.

The olympics has devolved into an arena of politics and my country is better than your country crap. So with that in mind lots of things are done in the name of national pride. I don't think there has been a clean sprinter in years same goes for lots of other sports. The people that get caught are the ones that don't have access to the right help in avoiding detection.

A carrier group has a layered defence involving aircraft and ships. Each group includes an AGEIS crusier or two supported by a few AEGIS destroyers and some destroyers or frigates for anti-submarine defence. The AEGIS in short a system where dozens and dozens of targets can only be tracked by these ships but also fired upon with guided missiles. With vertical launch containers rather than single or twin arm missile launchers more missiles can be quickly fired.

Then there is air cover, with the E-2 Hawkeye at the heart of it. With its powerful radar mounted ontop of the plane they too can track a great many targets that may be a threat to the carrier group.

For about 3 decades the F-14 Tomcat has been the air superiority fighter for the USN. Carriers used to have 2 squadrons on board, but now many have only 1. A Tomcat can use a variety of missiles from the short-range Sidewinder, the medium range Sparrow, and the long range Phoenix. And if need be there is the 20mm rototary cannon for close-in defence.

Replacing the Tomcat are newer versions of the Hornet, such as the F/A-18E. While these can't use the long range missiles like the Phoenix, they are very capable in air defence as well as attacking surface targets.

Should aircraft or anti-ship missile get passed all that there are the close-in defence systems on the carriers and its supporting ships.
