HIV cannot be transmitted through oral sex. Common misconception. If you had a cut at the time and got some blood in there from the other person, there is a slight risk but it's slight. The fact you see "symptoms" a week later does not mean HIV. You wouldn't see symptoms that fast. Chances are you got a simple infection and it needs either just time, or an antibiotic at worst. Best advice, if you are really worried, is to see a doctor and be HONEST with him/her. People lie to their doctors and that means you don't get the straight replies you need. Tell them what happened. Doctors don't judge and do not report you for having sex! And yes, I am a doctor. HIV would not manifest that quickly, so relax.
thx, oldguyzer! i've seen a lot of posts of yours.

so far, i think it's like 2 weeks from that sex. i think i didn't get some blood from that sp.

actucally, i did go to see a doctor or nurse today. he told me basically i was having a safe sex, so he didn't recommand me to get a HIV test. however, i didn't really show him my red rash since it wasn't there this afternoon. right now, i got red rash back again, and it's itching. my roommate said: what happened to my face, there's a red rash on my face now.

here's the thing is i'd like to confirm that my symptom isn't caused by HIV. maybe some other STI?

again, thank you for your reply and advice!

Hi Royal_Perb

From what you have written it sounds like you are really stressed at the moment and concerned that you got HIV from oral sex. It can be common for people to feel this way after sex.

Glad to hear that you were able to see a doctor and the information they gave you is correct. Your risk to HIV would be extremely low.

Here is a link to information about sexually transmitted infections and oral sex.

When you search the internet for HIV it is common to find many web pages that describe HIV seroconversion illness. Basically people describe it as a flu like illness, that can develop as a fever, rash, joint pain etc… The only problem with this is that there are many things that can cause these general symptoms. I generally tell people not to worry about the symptoms but to just think of it as a reminder that they should probably get a HIV test.

I think your risk to HIV is extremely low and you probably do not need a test but given how much this is playing on your mind it may be worthwhile getting a test. A negative test result can give you great peace of mind.

You also sound concerned about the red rash on your face that is coming and going. It is hard to diagnose conditions over the internet as we would need to see it but I would just suggest visiting a doctor or STI clinic when the rash is there and getting tested for STI.

Here is a link on what tests to get.

You can always send me PM if you would like more specific information.

thx, Health Nurse, you've been giving a lot of great information and advices to this forum. i really really appreiciate it!

i went to the BC CDC today and told my doctor about my case. he examed my body and said, it doesn't look like any STI symptoms. i should be fine.

however, to relieve my stress, i actually went for the testing thing and now, i am expecting a negative test result.

again, going for a doctor did make me feel a lot of better right now.

i thank those doctor who's giving us the kindness and careness.

anyways, happy new year to you guys.

Glad it worked out for you. Too much bad information on the Internet, fear-mongering by self-righteous factions, and our natural reluctance to talk openly about embarassing subjects makes it difficult to always know what's going on. I just wish everyone who visits us doctors would be honest and not give us bullshit stories. Would save a ton of grief on all sides.
