Smokers have used that reasoning for years.
Don't smoke, myself... never saw the point...
I really could care less about your food opinions, to be honest. I am happy where I am in life - and to answer the question, no, I am not a fast food junkie...

I didn't expect you to care. But this thread is about someone who is trying to make improvements in his life and he is asking for helpful, constructive feedback from others.

There are plenty of threads on topics such as what is the best all you can eat establishment in Vancouver...I think your input is needed there. :D

I'll come at this one from a different angle, I speak from some experience, I have lost a lot of weight in the past 5 months ( approaching triple digits! )

You can exercise all you want, but if you don't eat properly you won't lose weight, here's how I have suceeded so fear.

1.) No junk food ( NONE! )
2.) I drink lots of water, 2+ litres per day, I drink nothing else
3.) Small portions of meat, no more than 4-6 ounces
4.) More vegis than you can imagine, Broccoli, Carrots, Brussel Sprouts, Cucumber, Cauliflower, eat lots of it, eat it all the time
6.) Eat 6-8 times a day
7.) 2-3 Pieces of fruit per day
8.) no bread, very little rice, and very little pasta
9.) NO JUNK, EVER!

if you can do that you will lose your belly fat, walking is enough exercise, I ride my bike, and do weights three times a week, but if you do not have your eating under control then you'll just be a healthy chubby guy!
Why no rice? I'm eating a cup of brown rice every day.

Using an exercise belt must be similar to wearing a waist training corset. I have seen before and after pics on some of the sites and the affects of using a belt/corset do last.

There must be something to it, as, I notice gals before the eighties had much better shapes, whereas young women today have no waistlines no matter how thin they are. They tend to look tubular in those vintage style dresses.

Of course, you're not interested in an hourglass figure; but, holding the muscles in while you exercise, or at least supporting them, is wise.

There are some websites about diastasis recti, a problem I thought only pregnant women experienced, and these sites talk about a type of belly that is produced by laxness in the muscle wall.

I have personally experienced some closure of a very large gap in the center muscles, after a really large baby. I always wear a protective belt when doing upper or lower crunches....
