OK....when does ones butt stop hurting?

I have been riding between 14 and 28 km every three days. I would ride everyday except my ass hurts!

I have a gel seat...I know the bike is too big for me as only my tippy toes can touch ground when I stand...

I keep my leg revolutions high..I don't put a lot of load on my knees...and the cardio is great

Also, I have been walking about 6 km per day and after all this...two months...the measurements in all parts of my body have been decreasing...except my ass! I gained 2 inches of butt!!!

That was the part of my body I wanted to wear a way a little of.....

OK, I like that it is firmer and sits a bit higher now, but, really! I was hoping for more positive results!

Any help appreciated!

Well, that is just the confusing part. I eat a balanced diet and often take in less calories than I have burned in a day.

Get some riding shorts, they have additional padding. I recentlygot this advice from a friend who is a riding enthusiast.

uh...Edmonton.
I'm with Hippy on this....it should only take two weeks...then you can ride on the friggin seatpost if that's all that's available. But, from your original post, it seems you have been riding longer and further than the time it would normally take to harden off your ass. But, one man's "normal" is hardly the gold standard. I would suggest visiting a reputable bike shop in your area....I use Western Cycle here in deadmonton...it's full of pedalheads with a passion for what they do...plus they are relatively close with good bike path access. It's interesting, I choose my vendors and suppliers based on their distance and proximity to bikepath. An interesting shift.

Keep riding....sell the motorized stuff....that way you have no choice but to ride. Admit that you will choose the path of least resistance....you are only human. The money you save is amazing....truly. And it will allow you to....

1. Get some studded snow tires (if needed)
2. A rack (not that kind of rack, just saying, don't carry shit on your back)
3. Panier bags to hang from the rack. I got mine from MEC and they are amazing and double perfectly as my carryon baggage when I get to my need for motorized transport)
4. Light it up front and back.

Then, go have fun. I have (maybe) $1,500 invested in the best of the best. I have all weather gear...all of the above....I need a new bike but...that's more a "want" than a need. Stay away from the unsigned streets....stay to the back paths....and get a bicycle trail map for the area in which you live. And, for gawds sake....be a good cyclist. Dismount when you cross at crosswalks....thank the motorists that stop with a nod and a smile.

good luck.

After you quit sticking large objects in it?

It's called muscle there sweety!

There will be a slight increase in extracellular water as this is required for proper expulsion of the lactic acid build up caused by exercise, butt that will decrease eventually.

That was the part of my body I wanted to wear a way a little of.....

Do you need your butt massaged?

I have heard an old Chinese secret that ass play makes your cheeks smaller!
Have you considered inserting a butt plug as you cycle?

Maybe something to consider?

;)

Mimi, if you are a woman [wider pelvis and sit bones], you need a womans saddle [wider frame and sit bone pads]. You gained 2 inches of gluteus maximus muscle tone and that's a good thing Baby!

Hey! I want that spongy wonder thing!!! So Cool!

Well, when I ride I can feel a burn right through my butt down through my hamstrings...and when I finish the ride I feel light as air, but, muscle wasted! I notice the underarms get a work out holding the position over the handle bars. I did wonder if the development of the butt would eventually steal fat from everywhere else...the riders coming out of Cultus Lake have bodies like cadavers...lean muscle.

I am riding my ex's bike that he passed on to me. I haven't owned a bike in years, always borrowing the kids...this bike is one of those big wheel things with 24 speeds. I am saving up for a Dahon folding bike...haven't decided which one.

Oh! Greatest thing! I have suffered from a bad lower back for a couple of years now. One wrong move and I hit the floor and can't walk for days...I notice since riding regularly my back has gotten so strong that after 5 hours of gardening I can straighten up like an 18 year old instead of being stooped over and sore like and 80 year old. I am so thrilled! This is my year and I am going to get my body back!

My eventual goal is to be one of those stick people riding the freeway from here to the Okanagan...peddling like crazy up those big hills!

I have to look around cause I bought one of those female seats for my mom's bike while I had it here...a vintage peugeot folding bike with a fat ass seat...I rode that seat with no problem as a teenager, but, now...whew!

Which reminded me of how I lived on a bike through my childhood and never had a sore ass! My first bike we called 'clickety clank' and it had tires with no air..pure rubber.

I am really blessed that I only have to cut through a couple of blocks of busy traffic and then I am out riding along the river and through country roads where I can push the speed up...

Guess I have to get a helmet eh? I am wearing the baseball cap which is my towns national biking symbol...I just don't have the knapsack and the break and enter tools :)

At first I wanted an upright old fashioned bike so I could sit like the Queen and wave politely at my neighbours. I figure, hey, I'm old, I'm not in a race or anything.

Then I actually got out into the country and kept gearing up and up and up...and now I am rethinking what I want.

By The Way....bugs in the mouth and nose and eyes are a hazard in the evening...I wear a scarf over my face with dark sunglasses...it sorta adds to the whole baseball cap look...

The roads I am riding change from paved to gravel and some places large stones. The handle bars are upright from the wheels and it took a bit of time to build the upper body strength so I wasn't leaning on them and tipping...yeah, like falling over! lol I think if they were a tad higher or the seat a tad lower it would take the pressure off my vagina...it sorta falls asleep in the last 5 kms....ouch!
