I will surely miss him QUOTE

So will the families in Afghan, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Pakistan, Iraq and Somalia grieving over the loss of their dead children killed by his drone attacks in the name of fighting terrorism.
So will the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement he tried to push for.
So will The Patriot Act which he resigned TWICE.
So will Wallstreet whom he bailed out.
So will International Banking System.
So will Corporations and the 1%ers.

Imagine if this small list was attached to Donald Trump (which will soon most likely will be) can you envision the outrage from liberal Hollywood?
But no, lets all gather around and make a cotton candy fluff propaganda piece with our neoliberal friends with nice uplifting Sesame Street music playing in the background.

"Best US president ever"......Jeezus.
Wow...did I sign on to the wrong site? Is this perb Kentucky?

You'll find this board isn't too alt right friendly there Cletus so maybe bring it down a notch.

Are you totally devoid of any sense of the real history or is Fox News your only source?

Who started the whole thing after going into Iraq based upon trumped up fake WMD evidence when they should have zeroed in on Pakistan and Afghanisthan? (and Saudi but that's different thread on its own)
Who brought in the Patriot Act?
Who was responsible for the Wall Street and the Banking melt down?

All of the above brought to you by George W Bush, Dick Cheney and their friends at Halliburton, Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac. Obama and Bush were in the transition period in 2008 with the banking collapses. Not on Obama's watch but he was the janitor having to clean up the mess left on Wall St.

And seriously, Obama responsible for the 1% er's? That is pure Trolling.

Unreal how you try to transpose the failings of Geo W Bush onto Obama and set the stage for Trump also having to take responsibility for the mess that preceded him over eight years prior.

Obama scores lower based on expectation...unreasonable or not. He genuinely gave people hope that things would be much better under him and under delivered though he had good intentions.

It's hard to compare presidents unless they stood out as being exceptionally inept but he's somewhere in the top 3 IMO with Reagan and Clinton. In the past 8 years we saw the best first lady though.
Obama's outgoing Presidential rating of 58% was tied with Reagan. After 8 years of Bush Jr, it was a welcome relief to have a President who could actually coherently string many sentences together and not just five or six words.

We truly are in the "post truth" era.

Political discussion is almost impossible. Instead we have rants from partisans blind to any facts that do not conform to their reality. Trump has only made this even worse.
A good example is the time he mocked a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist with a disability. When called out on it he denied doing it. Many times, not just by Streep. Yet he was clearly shown on video doing it. This is not a matter for debate, he did in fact do it.
Another video shows him saying he would be happy to release his tax records. Another broken promise.
He has been caught lying and contradicting himself repeatedly, all well documented.

The response of Trump supporters is to attack Clinton or an ad hominem attack on the critic. Do the misdeeds of Clinton make Trump's acceptable?

Look back at some great debates, like Vidal vs Buckley, or Brian Mulroney destroying John Turner. Nothing like that happened in 2016. We saw an angry schoolmarm trying to deal with a mentally ill misbehaving child. Little or no facts. One side literally spouting nonsense if not outright lies.

America is absolutely going to have problems. Trump may do more damage to America than Bush.
Those in the rust belt who have naive hopes may see them dashed, leading to even more anger and frustration.
America is in decline, others are ascending.
The world is changing.

I take the words of ALL politicians with a grain of salt, no matter what comes out of their mouth, or what country. Tons of "rhetoric", even from North Korea's leader over the years.
Back when Bill Clinton was doing his thing, his wife Hillary did a tv interview in which she was asked - "Do you support same sex marriage?" Her very assertive answer "No, I don't" (you can view that interview on youtube)
But different story trying to get elected. Just like our own Jean Chretien way back when he first ran, his famous promise to drop the GST, hahaha. How's that working for you now ?
Your right westwoody, the world is changing and there won't be any care bears coming down from the sky to make everything ok again. I look at the U.S. (and other countries), their citizens decide what they want and we
can't do a thing about it. As far as the whole 2016 U.S election, including most of the candidates, right from the primaries on both sides, it was nothing but a childish, schoolyard fight.
They all threw professional ethics out the window and all their policy debates stayed at the bottom of the toy box.

There are big complex problems to deal with.
Trump cannot solve them by yelling or threats.
China and Russia are both ready to tell America to fuck off. In fact Russia has pretty much done so in Syria and China is doing so in the South China Sea.
Solutions will also be big and complex, and not reducible to sound bites suitable for media.
People get news from TV or Facebook. In depth analysis, like The Economist or Foreign Policy Review, is simply too difficult for most.
Everyone wants a nice simple answer, and a painless, convenient solution to their problems.
Trump supporters want their high pay union factory jobs back. They don't want to go back to school and get retrained. They expect him to deliver. But can he? Will people pay twice as much for made in America products? China has an incredible advantage in labour cost. If Apple makes iPhones in Ohio and pays workers 25/hr instead of 5/day in China what happens to the cost of the phone?
Many say those US factory jobs are gone forever. The Trump supporters want them back but I think they are dreaming.

The ridiculous antics of the Clinton side was bad too. Blocking freeways because your candidate lost? How stupid is that!

On another board there was a huge debate. It was actually embarrassing and I lost a lot of respect for some posters.
I have no problem if someone disagrees with me and has a decent argument to back up their stance. They might even convince me to change my opinion.
But constant name calling and repeatedly referring to "facts" that have been disproven, that is sad.
I take our democracy seriously.

So .... Is that safe to assume that you are an Obama hater? ................. or am I rushing to a conclusion?

:)

:nono I have no hate for him. He's comes off as a affable, charismatic, well spoken individual. I'll give him credit for the positive things he has accomplished in his time in office.
He ended Don't ask Don't tell, brought back stem cell research, he's freed non-violent drug offenders, rejected the Keystone pipeline, the Iran and Cuba deals, saved General Motors, signed the Paris agreement.
He danced on The Ellen show...........:noidea:

All of I've just stated i congratulate him but to say he's the best ever is ludicrous nor am i implying he's the worst. That honor can go to George W.
Even if i did hate him, it wouldn't change the stats i just pointed out.

My beef is the fact liberal Hollywood and everybody else are all ready to pounce on Trump ( whom i don't care for ) for any future transgression but will give President Obama a free pass or simply look the other way.

The name calling works both ways. Its not restricted to one side or the other this election year Woody, in life or on this board. The middle road between the two sides has virtually disappeared. You almost have to stand on one side or the other and both of them suck and are at times extremely embarrassing to be on. A keynote speaker for the Clinton campaign, politically committed Streep should have stuck to show business in her award speech and Trump should have just kept quiet and stayed off twitter. It didnt dignify a response. If he doesnt learn how to control himself over little things then how will he handle a big crisis?

Its going to be a tumultuous 4 years if Trump lasts that long but the Dems have only themselves to blame for putting the fix in for an extremely flawed candidate.

The BBC interviews redneck Trump supporter Noam Chomsky :)
This interview was done only two years into Obama first term btw, since then he has expanded into Yemen and Somalia.

So how exactly does a country like the USA fight back against terrorism if the enemy is a few guys in a Toyota Jeep hundreds of km away from any city or port?

Send in 5 or 10 thousand Americans and allies to take out a few guys in a truck?

Obviously the Drone program was designed to have the least amount of deaths by Americans and Allies. The terrorists still get taken out and yes there is collateral damage aka civilians.

I am certain if McCain had won against Obama, it would have been the identical tactic of taking out the enemy. Less loss of life and less cost. To the citizens of those countries, they are well aware of the drones and if I were them, I would ensure I wasn't near some guy with an AK. I do not have any moral outrage about the use of drones. If some country is going to harbour terrorists, they should be on watch the expect a drone hellfire coming in their window at some point.

Still, Obama took out UBL with the Seal Team but you don't mention that part.

I really don't get how the Repugnant Supporters have had such an issue with Barack Obama. He did a lot of positive things for the USA over his 8 years which collectively they all ignore. They are also like yourself quick to paint Obama with the issues from the previous GW Bush regime. Check the facts.

Interesting.
So right off the bat you label me as a ultra right wing conservative whose only new source is Fox News. Nice. Typical liberal knee jerk reaction.Good way to pigeon hold someone whose views you do not agree with. "If this person is not x then he/she must be y" Okay that's fine.

Let me address some of the points you hurled in my direction.

First off i realize that George W Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Henry Rumsfeld had lied their way into an invasion of Iraq or should i say massacre of its people. For that they should have been put on trial facing charges for the destruction they've caused. A destruction that most likely will never be fully repaired.

How's Obama promise to withdraw American troops from Iraq going? Let find out....

Not only did he pull troops from Iraq but then shipped them back and since then EXPANDED his intervention to Somalia, Yemen , Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and now Syria. Not bad for the 2009 Nobel Peace prize winner. Keeping himself busy. I guess Obama's janitorial duties requires him to mop up the entire middle east. That's one big spill Bush created. All in the name for peace or natural resources such as oil and gold...whichever comes first....

Yes once again i did know that Bush signed The Patriot Act in to law on October 26 2001.

So i guess that excuses Obama from resigning the bill on May 26 2011....

lol, you can't be serious.

You accuse him of labeling you, and then in the next sentence, you do the exact same thing!

I'm not saying "badboy" is in the right here, he's spewing a lot of bullshit too, but you're a walking contradiction. Both of you need to get your thoughts together before posting invalidated points.

It's just like their Congress All Fucked Up and there is no middle ground or an attempt to make everyone inclusive.

Enjoy the next four years of whatever you wanna call it. The Orange Dorito claimed journalists and the US own Intelligency is acting like Nazi Germany.

Can someone put in a good word for Canada also getting a Wall too?

Being an American myself I can tell you this...Barack Obama is not a perfect person......none of us are, however, when he came into office he was handed the worse mess anyone can imagine. It was all perpetrated when Bill Clinton repealed Glass Steagll and turned loose one of the biggest gang of thieves the world will ever see. He turned the Democratic Party into a corporatist party. The party of Franklin Roosevelt doesn't exist any more. To me Franklin Roosevelt was our greatest President ever. The Democratic Party forgot who made them who they are. When Hillary depended on her "Blue Wall" they gave her the finger for NAFTA. That part of our country is now a wasteland. True she deserved it but those people don't realize what they did to themselves. Donald Trump is a bonfide piece of shit and God save all of us if they don't find a way of impeaching him. Barack Obama infuriated me when he bought into TPP and I will never forgive him for that. Thank God Romey wasn't our president. Things here are VERY bad and I have a very heavy heart. No Obama wasn't perfect but in more ways than I can count he was a good President who had to put up with one of, if not the worst Congress we ever have had. On top of that he was African-American and the seething racism of my country is again boiling over. I was a railroad engineer and worked up to Thornton Yard between 2002 and 2007 and have come to love your country very much. I have returned 3 times recently to enjoy some of your fine ladies and will return often.....please don't blame Obama for this mess we have now .... For a long while he saved us.....
