Yes we can...

... screw up the economy
... get our asses kicked on trade deals
... mess up the Middle East
And leave our country more divided than ever.

Spare me the Hollywood promo spin and don't let the door hit ya on the way out Barry.

Took the words right out of my mouth :thumb:
I am not sure who the best US president ever has been, but I certainly rate Obama a notch higher than ANY of the republican bandits in last three, four decades.

I will surely miss him and what makes it worse is his replacement. I am not surprised if Mr. Dirty, Obscene, Narcissist. Ass**. Loudmouth, unDimplomatic Chump turns the white house into a playboy mansion. :)

Good Luck Americans. Get ready to be screwed.

How did he screw the economy up? The decimation of the US economy started when the Glass Steagall bill was overturned by a Republican Congress when Clinton was President. It allowed banks to go fucking crazy and the result was a casino economy and the bubble of all housing bubbles. It was Bush that instituted TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) not Obama. The shit had already hit the fan. Could Obama have did some things differently? Sure, he probably could, but I don't see how he "screwed" the economy. The decline of American Mfg was due to globalization (an agenda of the elites) and technology. Other parts of the economy are doing just fine (think tech).

And the Middle East? Again, he could have did some things differently but the Middle East has been fucked for decades & will likely always be fucked. America disagrees with their ideology but you can't destroy an ideology with bombs, you only strengthen it. To quote a well know hacking group "ideas are bulletproof".

There certainly is a problem with the "Liberal elite" in the United States (and Canada to a lessor extent). They carry themselves with a sort of smugness and superiority & look down on the working class & their preferences in life. A big part of this is the rise of the internet where you can bash anything and everyone you want from the comfort of your desk. But, on the flip side, a wide swath of the country IS mired down in racism and anger (often misguided). Trump won because he knew how to play on those fears/hate & capitalize on them.

Politics has become so incredibly polarizing it's almost astonishing. People on both sides seem unable to think for themselves anymore. The liberal elite aren't any better than the angry working class rednecks, it's just a different type of vile spew. The major different is the Liberal elite presents it using big flowing words to sort of cover up the harshness of their own opinions. I think it's a mechanism to make them feel superior. It's the difference between saying "he passed away versus he's fucking dead".

I also think too much is placed on the president. The US political system is a giant, filthy, machine with a lot of moving parts. To imagine 1 guy really has influence ignores reality. Mr Trump is quickly going to discover that too. The system is bigger than Barack was and will be bigger than Trump. In the end we all get fucked though.

During my life time, yes best IMHO.

I grew up with (too young to know of JFK) LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr and Obama.

Tell me which one was better than Obama? Repugs will say Reagan. Meh, he slept through much of his Presidency and had some evil SOB's working the darkside. Clinton was good but had the huge uptick of the economy which made him look even better. The rest were inept or in Bush Jr case were controlled by his inner circle Cheney et al.

In a documentry on him, it mentioned that psychological profiles were done on all the presidents. (Some after the fact of course.) For Trump, one of the things mentioned was that he (or a part of him) is like a 12-year old bully, if I remember correctly. I haven't follow things closely anymore. It does "seem" like he has good intentions & possibly some good ideas to make US better economy-wise, but it's the mindsets that he has on many other things that makes him undesirable for many, myself included.

As a side note this movie star love in is what helped fuel the rise of Trump. I'm not a Trump supporter whatsoever, but I admit I this kind of shit nauseating. Jane Fonda is in the oil sands today chirping about how evil it is. It's not so much her opinion I disagree with but the puffery around it. So a rich, powerful individual flies up on a personal aircraft to tell regular people their source of income to feed their kids is wrong. And the modern media stands there lapping it up. They can't seem to understand how disconnected this chick is with the reality of many people.

I'm sure Chelsea Manning, Julian Assange, and Edward Snowden think he is a great president as well.
They are alive, so it's not that bad, is it? Their life expectancy would be much less if they were enemies of Russia or Israel rather than the US. Did another US president show more compassion in similar circumstances?

US president could have pardoned Chelsea Manning, that's about it. Snowden wasn't convicted. I'm not saying he should be, but it would look rather arbitrary for a US president to override the legal procedure without a proper trial in such case.

Assange's case is different. He wasn't even publicly indicted by the US. He might have "served" a self-imposed jail time he deserved. If his own supporters in Sweden claimed he couldn't stick to consensual sex, I tend to believe them.

I will surely miss him QUOTE

So will the families in Afghan, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Pakistan, Iraq and Somalia grieving over the loss of their dead children killed by his drone attacks in the name of fighting terrorism.
So will the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement he tried to push for.
So will The Patriot Act which he resigned TWICE.
So will Wallstreet whom he bailed out.
So will International Banking System.
So will Corporations and the 1%ers.

Imagine if this small list was attached to Donald Trump (which will soon most likely will be) can you envision the outrage from liberal Hollywood?
But no, lets all gather around and make a cotton candy fluff propaganda piece with our neoliberal friends with nice uplifting Sesame Street music playing in the background.

"Best US president ever"......Jeezus.

Obama scores lower based on expectation...unreasonable or not. He genuinely gave people hope that things would be much better under him and under delivered though he had good intentions.

It's hard to compare presidents unless they stood out as being exceptionally inept but he's somewhere in the top 3 IMO with Reagan and Clinton. In the past 8 years we saw the best first lady though.
