I'd say it was the last season episode of TNG when it was revealed that Wesley was one of those God-like Traveller beings.
From I remember, the Traveller told Picard that Wesley had great potential but didn't say why. Picard and co. assumed that he meant that Wesley would grow up to become one of the all-time best Starfleet officers, so that's why we had to endure several seasons of this smug kid on the bridge flying the ship before mercifully shunting him off to the Academy. I don't think anyone knew Wesley was a Traveller until the final season.dirtydan said:Actually no, that came in the first season and in fact that particular episode aired yesterday on Spike. Some schmuck Star Fleet engineer goes around conning people with "his ability" to make warp engines more efficient when it is his assistant who is a traveller. He informs Picard of Wesley's abilities, to keep it secret, and to aid in his developement. The Traveller returns near the end of the last season to finally whisk Wesley away.
Amen to that.Quite frankly if there was a character that should have been killed off early in the series it should have been Wesley instead of Tasha Yar. As a character the prodigy kid was a whiney little bastard who tended to spoil episodes.

Amen to that.
And speaking of annoying kids, another shark-jump moment was when Worf's son joined the cast.
