Captain Kathryn Janeway of USS Voyager. My favourite Captain of all time.

Heard this morning on the news that there could be another Star Trek movie. I think that would make it the 11th. While I like Star Trek there is a point when enough is enough. And the last one, which ranks up there with the Voyage Home for being a stinker, made the point it was enough. How many fucking times can Earth be miraculosly saved or the Enterprise be destroyed?

That prompts the next question: When did the Star Trek franchise jump the shark?
I'd say it was the last season episode of TNG when it was revealed that Wesley was one of those God-like Traveller beings.

Actually no, that came in the first season and in fact that particular episode aired yesterday on Spike. Some schmuck Star Fleet engineer goes around conning people with "his ability" to make warp engines more efficient when it is his assistant who is a traveller. He informs Picard of Wesley's abilities, to keep it secret, and to aid in his developement. The Traveller returns near the end of the last season to finally whisk Wesley away.

Quite frankly if there was a character that should have been killed off early in the series it should have been Wesley instead of Tasha Yar. As a character the prodigy kid was a whiney little bastard who tended to spoil episodes.

From I remember, the Traveller told Picard that Wesley had great potential but didn't say why. Picard and co. assumed that he meant that Wesley would grow up to become one of the all-time best Starfleet officers, so that's why we had to endure several seasons of this smug kid on the bridge flying the ship before mercifully shunting him off to the Academy. I don't think anyone knew Wesley was a Traveller until the final season.

Amen to that.

And speaking of annoying kids, another shark-jump moment was when Worf's son joined the cast.

Cant stand Star Trek. Never seen a complete movie. The tv shows look goofy especially the old ones.

I dont like scifi in general so no surprise this series is at the bottom of the list.

My favourite scene was Spock pitching that ghetto blaster out the bus window. The same movie also had Chekov's line "Where are your nuclear wessels?"
TOS was a lot more fun, TNG took itself way too seriously and got too preachy at times.

My problem with the character Alexander was his soap opera like aging from TNG to DS9. In a few years he went from a little boy to an late teens/early 20's Klingon warrior, albeit a shitty warrior at that.
