OTTAWA, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is increasingly likely to announce he intends to step down, though he has not made a final decision, a source familiar with Trudeau's thinking said on Sunday.
The source spoke to Reuters after the Globe and Mail reported that Trudeau was expected to announce as early as Monday that he would quit as leader of Canada's ruling Liberal Party after nine years in office.

While it is long. long overdue for JT to quit, the concern is that there is not one decent human being in any Canadian political party to replace him.

PP is useless, Jag is worse than useless, and god forbid Chrysta becomes JT's replacement.

God help us all.

The new Liberal leader might also be Christy Clark.

Most likely Billy from janitorial will take over in a forced promotion.

Unfortunately Cornelius the First emigrated and then died. He would have been a fearless, stalwart leader who could have taken anyone on.

this isn't actually the best news for the other parties as the Liberals are now a wild card... if they are able to install a rock star "change" leader then they have a shot at maintaining power.

We are on the cusp of electing PM a far-right simpleton who admires Trump and Elon Musk.

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may.

Mark Carney
When he returned from his stint as Governor of Bank of England, he started his push and frankly when he speaks he sounds more prime ministerial than any of the current batch of political types, all parties, all designations.
But all in all, what a fucking mess the libs made this time around and there have been some real fuck ups along the liberal governance train.

Why are we all so concerned? It's not like we will be voting for a new head of Canada. We are only going to be voting for the Governor of 51st state of US!

(Tongue in cheek).

It was about time JT left before being dragged out of Parliament Hill kicking and screaming. But watch what you wish for, I don't see anyone who I could trust in Liberals as well as Conservatives. I am not even going to mention Thugmeet Singh.

Did I hear someone say Christy Clark? Oh No !! Like we really need someone who thinks that she can just charm her way through things!

Carney would be better than JS, obviously, and better than PP.
Carney has actual hands-on experience in finance. PP has never managed anything.

Yep Carney can make Poilievre's head spin talking finance and economical repercussions.

Freeland will give it a go I'm sure ... unless Carney's wave is too much to overcome ...or vice versa.

Not sure if it's the right timing for any of them as they might decide to seat this cycle as things got so bad for the liberals over this past fall in the public opinion .

"News that Justin Trudeau will resign is helping to underpin loonie gains," said Nick Rees, senior FX market analyst at Monex Europe Ltd. "Markets have become disillusioned with Trudeau - his administration having presided over a period of economic stagnation."

Anyone remember Christy Clark and her 'Yoga on the Burrard Street Bridge thing?" on June 21st. Which as I recall is National Aborginal Day ... Yup, perfect leader for the liberals - trade a twit for a twat.

Man its hard being a political orphan like me, absolutely no where to go politically in the cesspool today.

Oh well, one thing is sure, the Cons will cut taxes, then a couple years later charge for services they cut to cut taxes. Maybe I can sock enough away when the do the first cut so that the second cut isn't as deep.

its the "conservative" MO... regressive taxation replaces progressive taxation. as opposed to the "socialist" MO... which is the opposite.
