i'm convinced the US election has a lot to do with the cons push for an election as soon as possible... if Trump gets elected then canadians will be shortly horrified by what he has planned. and since the cons mimic a lot of US conservative narratives... bad for cons.

My guess is the Liberals know the sordid details of Poilievre's past that prevent him from submitting to background checks.

There have been stories circulating Ottawa for years about Poilievre commingling with male prostitutes and his wife's involvement with drugs and South American crime.

I'd expect several October surprises in '25. Have your popcorn ready.

Poilievre is such a fucking two-faced creep. A god among the christian taliban and the incel edgelords, of course.
But he has possible "calls his father Daddy" vibes, definitely. His wifey being a beard would not surprise me.
Pollywanker was totally okay with the rape threats that his Diagolon bros were making about Lib and NDP women but they made a joke about Polly's wife and then suddenly he was like "hey guys, that is not acceptable".
But apparently now they are back in his good books again? What the fuck? Be a man, Polly (if you even can) !

However, I do not think any of that will come out (pardon the pun) if Trudeau is still leading the Liberals. The public are just done with him, and for every Lib MP that speaks the shocking ( ) assertion that his time is over and everyone gets that except him, there's probably 4x more who just can't bring themselves come out and say it.

The record of the Libs policies is probably more good than bad in terms of public support - but holy shit, does the PMO love to be their own worst enemy.
"All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" - and they are less than a year from making that saying actually come true.

They mimic ALL of them. The CPC are the most solid evidence of foreign interference in Canadian politics, since literally nothing abut what they believe did not originate down there.

The Cons have the political advantage now, because they have the benefit of Canadians forgetting what their ideology is really all about, and because their foes have ignored some public concerns in a way that let public dissatisfaction creep upwards.
Maybe the opposition have pointed at the wrong things, but the whole "move along nothing to see here" approach of the incumbents usually ends with them getting defeated or very nearly. Canada's recent provincial elections have shown that the general level of discontent is quite high (BC near miss, SK near miss, NB defeat).

But yeah, I don't think most Canadians would be happy to witness the Cons' MAGA masters win, then go all Project 2025 and turn the US into Gilead.
A Harris win might lull them into a false sense of security, tbh.

Polls have been showing a 99% chance of a huge majority Conservative government for months now and what is happening with the Liberals now is not likely to change that. This is from the Liberals own CBC...

https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/elections/poll-tracker/canada/

It would have to be something dramatic. Leader toppled, then a leader with a very different personality and a budget that really brings out the big guns, that is all about doing battle with sharp lines of demarcation from both the Cons ideology and their own record of inaction. That is what it would take, but that takes a leader who is really willing to do the whole "charge of the light brigade" approach.
That or something really vile about Pollywanker coming out, some Epstein-island kind of things, not just "well, he's a bit of a snakey asshole".

Pierre will beat the pants off trudeau in the next election unless trudesu is forced to quit as liberal leader before that.
Agreed. As long as the election is about Trudeau and not about him, Polly wins. And as long as Trudeau is still around, it is going to be about Trudeau. (He and his inner circle do not see that as their downfall, but they are kidding themselves.)

People are tired, weary of Justin. But most people I know thick PP is a prick. If the conservatives had another leader, it would be a guaranteed majority government. But a year is a long time and PP has a lot of hidden baggage and the Libs will expose it just the same way that the Cons and the NDP do the same. No one has the high ground here. As for the press, it is disingenuous to claim that they are in JT's pocket. Apart from the CBC, the press is owned by the rich or in the case of the National Pun and the Sun chain, the American rich. The folks on the left can be a joke but the folks on the right are viewed with the same contempt by many, many Canadians especially those in the cities and away from the Flatlands. Just saying. Now it is everyone's turn to be vitriolic towards me.
Agreed. Most Canadians who pay attention to politics know Pollywanker is an asshole by nature, but as much as the Libs are self-deluded about JT being a liability, the CPC are too in love with the notion that to be a conservative these days, being an asshole or a nutjob is a requirement, an ideological purity test that says "You must deny climate change exists, You must disparage other non-white races or non-anglo people. You must be paranoid about vaccines. You must use the dirtiest political tactics at all times. You must cozy up to violent militia groups." But the public never wanted this. They want things like crime & affordability dealt with, deficiencies in the military and police repaired, and maybe less pandering to very niche interest groups, but that is about it. The public never asked the Cons to act like sexual creeps, outlaw thugs, or reality-allergic lunatics; if the Cons are getting increased support, it is despite that behavior not because of it. That is the delusion which they do not want to address, and as long as the Libs in power are delusional too, it seems like a winning strategy (when it isn't why they might win at all).

By the way, I would like to point out the BC elections results are still not actually confirmed yet:

" The counting still isn't done in B.C.'s election "

That's right, judicial recounts are automatic in ridings where it is this close.

Machine count of paper ballots was done on the final night of voting. Hand-counts of all paper ballots by Elections BC is done. However, where it is super-close there's a judge-supervised hand recount of paper ballots too.
So the result might still change in a couple of places.

this pretty much sums up the Turd and his sycophants

go near the bottom, Garneau, Bill, JWR, all saying the same things as the token black women Celina, her words

cause it's 2015, yeah, where your incomes still are too

Bill Maher, bragging yesterday on his show how the inbreds in Mississippi, the worst state, are richer than anyone in Canada per capita income

Angry Premier Smith plans sovereignty act move to block Trudeau
download (3).jpeg
Smith is expected very quickly to bring a sovereignty act move to the Alberta legislature where provincial politicians will debate a plan to block Prime Minister Trudeau’s anti-oilpatch scheme.

“They cannot destroy the most important industry in the country by targeting our province. We just won’t stand for it.”

Investment, jobs, the staggering amount of oilpatch cash bankrolling government programs.

“It’s not optional to comply with federal regulations and it’s not provinces that will have to comply, it will be the companies in those provinces that will have to comply.”

https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/c...le-smith-sovereignty-act-block-justin-trudeau

Looks like a prelude to Trump tariffs. Federal Canada crashes Alberta's American owned oil & gas companies. For Canadians to buy in at a cheaper price. That's my own wishful thinking because enough Canadians probably aren't savvy enough to cash in on such an opportunity. That leaves us with Federal Canada virtue signaling non-compliant and uninterested South Asia about carbon.

Smith is a fucking disgrace. Might as well come out as an anti-Canadian annexationist. Plus she likes to just make up imaginary powers for her government that do not really exist.
Like some kind of MAGA try-hard who got left out by her mean-girl idols down south (Marjorie Taylor Greene, Kari Lake, etc.), in the hopes that one day they will notice her and invite her to their psychotic Karen pyjama party.

so was Lougheed an "annexationist" too?

cause he pretty much said the same thing to the first POS Turdeau in his day

only a complete hypocrite would talk about "emissions" in Canada

and lie that they're going to make a difference

when China and India are spewing more Carbon in a year than a 100 yrs of Canada's numbers

if you believe your delusions of reality

then cut all oil/gas/propane all energy coming from AB, which is what the zealots want

see how long the rest of the county goes without, like Horgan even knew, why he tried to go to court to get rid of another commie lite Notely's law that was never implemented to cut off oil/gas to BC/rest of Canada

cause he said, "it would cripple BC's economy"

just like it would Ont/Que's

and for imaginary powers, you mean like the Turd's overstep into provincial powers that have been bitchslapped back by the Supreme court more than once now?

take AB out of the equation, which the Turd has tried to do

look at where it's gotten Canada, our economy is in the toilet

the poorest U.S. state is in better shape than any Canadian province, their inbred hillbillies are richer than us on average

AB is the highest has been for years/decades

oil you simpleton is our number 1 export, not cars, not manufacturing, not agriculture, financial services

the only disgrace is how people like you can't accept reality

the world is not getting rid of oil/gas or emissions

until you either exterminate 5 billion people

or everyone is living in caves again, like the arab host said from the last pathetic gabfest in the UAE was held where nothing happened

again, for the 30 something year in a row

except delusional unrealistic predictions and targets no one is meeting

Trudeau has beaten 3 CPC leaders so far, so I wouldn't bet the farm that he'll be defeated next year. Of course, I wouldn't bet the farm he won't be defeated either.

Poilievre is hiding something; this is why he's afraid of the background checks required for security clearance. So there is a good chance he'll self-destruct before the next election.

Michael Chong basically just admitted PeePee is hiding something.

So I guess the old explanation that Poilievre was turning down security clearance so he could "speak freely" was just so much bullshit. Just more lies from a liar.

As a matter of course if you run for position in government, you should get a security clearance. Having a family member that is a member of Hell's Angels does not automatically cancel your SC. You just write that you no longer have contact with him.

Once a background check is done, you are brought in to be questioned on things if there are "problems". They ask about the 'problem", just don't lie about it. If you smoked drugs, who cares along as its in the past. You owe money, just say so. You owe money to mobsters, you might be fucked.... You went to jail, that might be a sticking point.... If you hang out or are in contact with known criminals, there is a problem.
You cannot see confidential, secret or top secret files if you do not have the appropriate security clearance.

I don't believe an election will be called until Jagmeet is eligible to collect his 2.2 million dollar pension in February. At that point he will disavow the Liberals because his main concern is not Canada or its citizens but collecting his pension. He will just keep dragging it out. Hope Im wrong...JT has to go ASAP.
"MPs are entitled to full pensions at age 65, if they have served six years. And some members who had served more than six years prior to January 1, 2016 may qualify for a full pension at age 55, with others eligible for a reduced pension at that age. Currently, an MP is paid $182,600. Salaries automatically increase on April 1."

His pension is only attainable when he hits age 65. He can only make 75% of current MP salary which is now 203,000.00. That is 152,250.00 per year when he turns 65. he will make 2.2 million total after 15 years of drawing pension when he is 80. This goes for all MPs that have 6 or more years of service.

https://www.canada.ca/en/treasury-b...-changes-members-parliament-pension-plan.html

To get that pension he pays into it over 20% of his current pay. see ref.

The thing is if he lives past 80, he will make more than 2.2 million off his pension...but that is only after 15 years of drawing pension. And his has to pay tax on his pension.

Two years ago, in a rare public rebuke, former Bank of Canada governor Stephen Poloz said at a conference in Banff that Canada is a chronic underachiever because of poor political decisions and its failure to address unresolved issues.

“We get in our own way,” he said, then listed a few problems: “A political quagmire that requires a crisis to make decisions”; “layers of regulation”; “permit and consultation that take ages to complete”; “Canada is one of the most highly taxed economies on earth”; “interprovincial barriers that cost four per cent a year in GDP alone to Canada”; and falling foreign investment.

The result is that our peers, such as Australia, continue to outperform Canada, thanks to Trudeau’s cabinet of environmental activists and professional politicians who lack financial, business, geopolitical, economic and technological expertise.

they don't pay that much, they pay a % up to

They pay one rate on the portion that is below the year’s maximum pensionable earnings (YMPE), another rate on the portion that is at or above the YMPE up to the maximum pensionable earnings (MPE), and another rate on the portion that is above the MPE (see tables 6 and 7).

and if you go back, before Harper changed it somewhat, they were paying $1 for every 22 or so of taxpayer dollars

some of those POS are still in parliament

bottomline, no one should be getting a pension for only 6 years of work, specially of that amount

there is no way you could get that kind of pension in the real world

Yeah its a pension lol.... that he collects sometime in the future so he can comfortably live in retirement...you think that he doesn't want it because it doesn't come the instant he is voted out of office or quits? Its great free money just for hanging in there another few months.

Poilievre doesn't have to worry'

He became eligible for a full pension at age 31.

Because it's the only job he's ever held.

He's lived on the dole his entire adult life.
