Recall the 2011 election when it was revealed that Jack Layton had been found in a massage parlour in Toronto by police checking for underage sex workers I believe. This was some years earlier when he was in Toronto city council and no friend of the police. As he recall he was told at the time to get his clothes on and get going.
Story was let out perhaps by a disgruntled cop during the election. Jack claimed it was a smear campaign, his wife said he exercised lots so needed the occasional rub down, don’t know if the happy ending was considered necessary. Anyway that livened up the campaign to some degree.
This would make me even harder to vote for JL if I had been in hos riding ...decrim!

I think (affectionately, self-titled) pooners understand the need for women's sexual and reproductive rights and Canadian voters should absolutely not be looking up to American Republicans like a tough older brother.
Trudeau seems like a passive, silver spoon nepo-baby at best, and a weak, power entitled corporate shill at worst (corporate needs to you find the difference between these two images!)
I think as far as human rights issues, working class economic struggles, and socio-political avenues go, the NDP are the closest to what apolitical, right-wing economic, and social left political voters all want.
However, their marketing is weak, their allegiances are only vocalized once every blue moon, they seem to run as a conditional support for other parties rather than a party themselves. Which I personally find to be a failure as they are currently an almost exact equal to the Liberal party.
I do think it is the perfect time to separate themselves from the Liberal party, but it will be a complete and total waste if they do not raise their voice incredibly loud, and make bold, repeated policy positions. Right wing, conservative Republican parties thrive because of how simply loud they are. I personally believe NDP has the potential to catch up if they just learn how to be bold and aggressive.
