I believe it was Alek Stojanov, not Antoski that got Naslund.Antoski did bring Naslund in trade a few years later but that's beside the point.
You're correct burcs, another meat head Stojanov. Antoski was traded to the Flyers then signed with the Penguins as a FA. Makes passing on old man Tkachuk in 1990 even worse!!!I believe it was Alek Stojanov, not Antoski that got Naslund.
Hind sight is 20/20 meathead. You're correct burcs, another meat head Stojanov. Antoski was traded to the Flyers then signed with the Penguins as a FA. Makes passing on old man Tkachuk in 1990 even worse!!!
Who's ragging, just commenting. Settle the fuck down....Hind sight is 20/20 meathead.
If you are actually old enough to really know how that draft went down- Antoski was applauded by many GMs and league insiders as an outstanding pick. Tkachuk at #19 was missed by about a dozen other teams that would have liked a do-over.
Also- remember Peter Nedved at #2 in the same draft? The crowd went WILD when he was picked- EVERYONE thought he would be the man- pretty funny how that worked out too.
Or Ricci at #4? Scissons at #6- now those were some GREAT picks- the list goes on. Or how about Dougie Weight at #34? A lot of teams passed and missed the boat- happens all the time.
Or later drafts #1 overall- Daigle? Stefan? Yakupov? Seemed like good ideas at the time.
Just goes to show- these kids are 18 years old- so you never really know how they will mature or turn out- outside of the very few generational players.
Ragging about missed picks is fucking juvenile.
I would of rather they took Brodeur than Tkachuk. You're correct burcs, another meat head Stojanov. Antoski was traded to the Flyers then signed with the Penguins as a FA. Makes passing on old man Tkachuk in 1990 even worse!!!
I agree it may be an inexact science but there is one variable that makes the first draft picks mostly a bust; at least as far as the Canucks are concerned. I'd say the reason they are a bust is self inflicted.inexact science is a good way to put it.
it was tough enough to predict how a young player would develop when the draft age was 20,trying to guage how a kid of 18 will
do is that much harder.
off-topic,but I read Benning was fined $50,000 for his comments on Subban.I can't recall his quoted words but they seemed innocent enough.
Didn't know Weber was even on the market. Wonder why the Preds parted ways with him.News this aft Subban to Nashville straight up for Shea Webber. I'd love to see Weber in a Canuck uniform some day.
And they took Nedved instead of Jagr - Picked Antoski as you stated Tkachuk and Martin Brodeur (we did have Capt. Kirk) who at the time was not too shabby.History repeats...1990 NHL Draft.....Canucks pass on Keith Tkachuk in the first round to draft Shawn Antoski, FFS!!!!
Antoski did bring Naslund in trade a few years later but that's beside the point. A power, scoring winger is exactly what was need....:noidea:
