Perhaps I could see how these 'disenfranchised' Americans could 'hitch their wagon' to some charlatan who they deem 'one-of-us', but have their lives improved appreciably under his lead? It's possible that blaming everyone and anything for one's own failures is a better option than owning them. (I guess having this as an excuse does improve their lives)

Thanks QM'r, this provides a sliver of clarity.

Truly shocking, beyond anything that asshole has done:

Several first responders and municipalities have been complaining that FEMA has seized their supplies of PPE.
Now Trump is saying he might send ventilators and PPE to Moscow.
I really hope he is not taking stuff from USA emergency stocks and giving it to Putin.

Ahhh,, now i get it. It's the............it's all about ME crowd that votes for trump and what the USA is about?
My how times have changed. When it used to be the USA cared what the world thought of them
and it generally speaking kept them in high regard with most freedom loving countries.

IE, on the base of the statue of Liberty, The shining beacon to what freedom is all about.

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore".

It's unfortunate that the voting public in the USA have forgotten that OR allowed their govt to have created
the problems for them to feel like abused dogs. In reality their leadership truly has failed them as a voting
public if they feel like abused dogs. Very interesting point you make appleomac. I liked it.

Would that help answer your question Golferjohn?

Yes, times have changed. What you don't seem to understand is that what "changed" was not Trump's doing - he simply took advantage of it (either on purpose or by accident). That which has "changed" was festering in the US long before the 2016 election. They say "be careful what you wish for", in alot of ways, the Left got what it wished for - but they didn't actually realize what that would actually look like. By in large Amercians have not forgotten "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses..." Generations of Amercians did exactly that - it built the US into one of the most diverse countries in the world. But at some point it changed. At some point a white 52 year old coal miner in middle America "complained" about losing his job - and the response he got was "check your privilege"?!?!? Yes, he was complaining about his lot in life - the guy who did everything he was suppose to, the guy who never opposed immigration, was never racist, etc. But yet, he was told he was the problem for voicing his complaints about his problem. Sounds crazy right. I'm sure you can see where this is going, long story short, he was called a racist for having the audacity to think about his "problem" of losing his job which he's had for 25 years. Look at your response, which boils down to "shame on them for thinking ME" - in a way that's how it starts. The Left wanted to make it all about identity, they got what they wanted - not because people are racist or sexist or whatever - because they kept telling a good chunk of America that's exactly what they are...

...this makes a lot of sense to me.

Again, it's not taking responsibility for the inability to see that working the coal mines (pick whatever 'at risk' faction) was/is a dying (literally) industry, and then being told to evolve or die. Poor guy worked hard his entire life, probably will die prematurely and is now considered expendable...damn-right he's pissed! Not his fault (it has to be someone else's fault), but the reality is he's no longer able to feed his family. Trump stumbling upon this untapped source of 'forgotten men' now sheds light on the fact that they'll follow him off the ledge.

Not a happy picture, but certainly a sliver of the reality of evolution...I'm kinda guessing there's a certain amount of inevitability that yields to powerlessness, that leads to...#45

Thanks appleomac

Trumps biggest mistake was his twitter tweets...

In 2016 Biden should of been the candidate, but everyone knew Hilary wanted it. She should of been the shoe in, except for how Trump got the Republicans vote. Trump didn't talk politics or issues, he attacked other candidates character. The public bought this hook, line, and sinker. A reality show. He acted as a bully. He knocked all the candidates off one by one and he started to get results in polling.

The thing is if Russian hackers could obtain emails from Hiliary's computer, couldn't they rig polls, voting booths etc... just enough for a win in certain swing states... A week before the election in 2016 Trump make specific reference to that if Hiliary won the election it was because she would rig the voting booths.

He didn't drain the swamp, he made it bigger.

With this Covid 19 virus, dirty politics will be played again. Isolating Democratic areas, so as not to be able to vote in the next Presidential Election; if there is one.... Oops... no one is supposed to know that......

His next campaign will be all smoke show.

The beautiful Fraser Valley !

My normal inclination, would be to offer Donny no Quarter, because He is such a Buffoon . But, after seeing this Information, maybe I could offer him a hair of Slack .
He still chose a nonchalant position on COVID-19, when it presented itself in the USA !

I've got to ask, where the Hell was the CIA during this Debacle ?
Shouldn't They be on top of this type of Intelligence !

Surely there's other options, in the American population, than these two pre-Baby Boomers . Where the Hell are the Generation Xers ? Donny & Joe are both going to need an afternoon Nap, during this 4 Year Presidential term ! LOL

I don't know if Barrack's endorsement, is going to salvage Sleepy Joe's chances of becoming the next President . How many kicks at the Can, is Joe going to get ?
One can only Hope !

Oh but I do understand apple, so don't allow yourself to say I don't "seem" to understand. The 52 year old man did
lose his job and it has not only to do with the left, so please do not blame it solely on the left, OK?
It has more to do with the entire business sector and the govt of the US, beit left or right letting
down the hard working american who came to that country looking to build their dream but being BETRAYED by the almighty dollar for those who ruled the business
world shipped off most of their business overseas and the hardworking american middle class
person was slowly being doomed to live out what little life was left in him as their was no work
left in america unless he chased
it overseas, owned an overseas business, had the capital to start his own business and if not then would have
to decide to work at walmart or parking cars in trumps garage if he felt no humility.

So mostly I don't feel it had much to do with 21st century leftist propoganda and the "ME" movement.
That's crapola as Archie bunker says cuz it all started a hell of a lot longer ago than that. As you
said yourself, it had been festering for a long time man.
Seriously man, how can you put that on the politics of the left solely? Just for your info I neither lean left nor
right simply because they both stink in todays society. Politics is nothing but a cesspool of abusiveness
to whoever receives it. And right now trump is dishing it out in spades.

So when I say "it's all about me" the reason they feel that way is just that they have been betrayed as
hard working americans who paid their taxes and got nothing back in return but betrayal. They weren't told
to feel that way. I don't believe that for a second. They could see how they felt by how their country was
falling apart around them and the feeling of "ME" was all they had left after believing in the american dream
which let them down. Tell your side of "shame on them for thinking ME" to all the Detroit City car manufacturers
who now look back at a desert of a city full of nothing but junkies and homeless.

Unions in the early part of the 20th century built the backbone of the USA, today those are nothing
but dreams long gone. That's another reason why people felt left out. It's got nothing to do with
them "listening" to the left telling them. They just wanna work, that's the old school feeling of long ago
and those old retired folk who lost their jobs still feel betrayed by that to this day.

Is trump gonna make Detroit Great again? I highly doubt it.

You can say that again man.

Of course not. But a good chunk of America in 2016 heard two messages. 1) Blame the TransPacific Partnership, blame NAFTA, blame the WTO, blame the UN, blame China, blame Mexico, etc. and 2) Check your privilege, you're a racist, etc. Is it really a surprise that the white 52 year old former coal miner decided to vote Trump? You may not believe in the American Dream - that's fine. But the 52 year old former coal miner still does - before he lost his job he thought he was living the dream. Good job (in his mind), a decent home (albeit with a mortgage), a car (not a Porsche, but it was paid for), etc. They voted for Trump notwithstanding all of Trumps (numerous and obvious) flaws. There's an old saying, "People don't remember what you say, they remember how you made them feel." Telling people "check your privilege" or "you're a racist if you vote for Trump" makes people feel worse than hearing MAGA - even when the guy screaming "MAGA" is a highly flawed man.

and there's our 32%-40%...it would seem that the numbers would add-up. there were significant numbers that just stayed home during the 2016 election (many of whom probably figured Clinton was a lock and they didn't much care for either candidate, while others just 'held their noses' and pulled the lever).

regardless of who he tries to blame this virus on, we all know the responsibility lands squarely on his desk...I'm pretty sure how that makes me 'feel'

If the competing message in the 2020 election is between "blame China" and "blame Trump" - gawd help us all. It will be 2016 all over again! Elections are great, if you don't like the outcome you get a mulligan - literally every 4 years. But when one side walked up to the par 5 hole, chose to use their 9-iron off the tee and complains they didn't get enough distance off the tee - it would be mighty foolish if they grabbed their 9-iron once again to tee off on that same par 5 hole four years later.

I like your analogy! Rolling out sleepy Joe is equivalent of bringing no clubs but only the ribbons in the gymnastics dance competition up to the tee.

How so? Enlighten me as your weak picture shows you are clearly off the point.. Hilary was classic Democrat establishment and now they are trying again with an even worst establishment pick. At least Hilary could put a sentence together coherently.

I wasn't speaking about any particular candidate, I was merely speaking to messaging/strategy. The point of the analogy is the club selection, the clubs are different strategies - and my point is that the Dems should not use the same strategy (i.e. the same 9 iron) as they did in 2016. Ergo, the "blame Trump" vs "blame China" messaging will be 2016 all over again - again, the analogy has nothing to do with the actual Dem nominee for POTUS.

And Trump can ?!?! The late night show industry in the US has gotten 90% of their nightly material from Trumps grammatical goofs and mispronunciations from the day before. Joe would have to make 20 mistakes a day from now until the election to have any hope of catching up to Trump.

The difference is that 45 has no aspirations to be coherent and his followers actually like that about him...it's expected so his bar is essentially at ground-level

So what you are essentially saying is that his follower's are big fans of Stephen King and they are happy to have own personal mad clown ruling the country as in the move IT. And now that they have seen IT Chapter 2 in the theatre, they are hoping for their own Chapter 2 by having a win in November? That makes sense to me.

I suspect that most people here have a lot of time on their hands and they could probably find time to watch a documentary. Called ‘The Fall of the Cabal’ you can find it either in ten parts, or the full documentary, which is about 3 hours. It’s by a Dutch lady named Janet Ossebard. Watch the documentary and then do your own research and tell me how scary you think Trump looks compared to the other side? I’ll warn you that you need to be prepared for how disturbing this documentary is.

Realistically I could make the time to watch the documentary, but I'm to lazy. So I ask somebody to give a summary of the "The Fall of the Cabal" by part.

Regarding Trump when you watch his press briefings, you can see what an buffoon/liar he is. Of course Biden/Trudeau (take your pick) are far from perfect, but Trump takes everything to an impossibly low standard.
