The 2016 election should teach you that apparently there is a large chunk of the US population that believes that they have sat silent while another segment of the US population continually told them to "grin and bear it, this is good for you." It's really that simple. I'm not saying their "feelings" are right or wrong, but it really doesn't matter if they truly "feel" that way. Now you get a POTUS that literally gives zero pucks - that attitude mirrors what a good chunk of Americans are actually feeling. Take the 52 year old coal miner that lost his job, hearing media saying thing likes "learn to code" - that would make me resent the "elites" in Silicon Valley as well - think about it! Kick your dog enough times, they won't stay loyal to you for very long. In fact, they just might turn into mistrusting/being aggressive to all humans. The 2016 election should've taught you that "you're not in Kansas anymore!" Going "back to the well" to try and combat this new division in US politics - it just demonstrates that "the other side" still didn't get the memo. The one good thing that came out of 2016, perhaps US politicians will now take vote efficiency alot more seriously. In Canada we always talk about (and politicians always consider) vote efficiency. Americans (mainly the left) whining about popular vote still don't get it - it truly amazes me. Constantly whining about Hillary getting 5 million more votes in California than Trump - so what! That just demonstrates that 4,999,999 votes in California had exactly zero impact in the last election. Hillary needed a million more votes in Florida, Michigan, etc. Let's see if the Dems figured that one out.
Now to answer your question, the current POTUS doesn't have to do one damn thing to "improve the lives of Americans and our standing with the rest of The World" so long as there is still enough Americans who feel like an abused dog. There's an election coming, we'll soon find out if Biden can win the trust of the proverbial abused dogs!
Ahhh,, now i get it. It's the............it's all about ME crowd that votes for trump and what the USA is about?
My how times have changed. When it used to be the USA cared what the world thought of them
and it generally speaking kept them in high regard with most freedom loving countries.
IE, on the base of the statue of Liberty, The shining beacon to what freedom is all about.
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore".
It's unfortunate that the voting public in the USA have forgotten that OR allowed their govt to have created
the problems for them to feel like abused dogs. In reality their leadership truly has failed them as a voting
public if they feel like abused dogs. Very interesting point you make appleomac. I liked it.
Would that help answer your question Golferjohn?
