Human trafficing at the Olympics

The columnist Lorna Dueck has a diatribe about human trafficking. I am totally against human trafficking, but she shoots herself in the foot when she calls the Olympics "wholesome". Since the Olympics are all about the money, is that not prostitution?.

Prostution is all about sex and money so it is un-wholesome. The Olympics is just all about money, no sex, so it is wholesome, at least according to all the profiteers and politicians who are ripping off the taxpayers and athletes.

What a load of crap. There's doubt very much that there's any trafficking going on just for the Olympics. There's always a dark side to any industry and for every innocent girl who's been duped by a pimp or sold into slavery by her family there's a 100 girls just here to make some money. The slavery stuff that goes on in Asia and in some parts of the old Eastern bloc is despicable but so is trying to portray every girl who's selling sex as a victim of trafficing or a slave.

We're the guys who see these girls - we know if they're being held against their will or mistreated. Correct me if I'm wrong by all means but I think most of the girls are doing it of their own accord. I hate the 'victimeering' that goes on.

If they really cared they'd look at some of the messed up home-grown junkies on the downtown east side.

You are right, sir (one of the reasons I always try to point them out), because their agenda interferes with a variety of freedoms that I relish. But they are irrelevant to rational discourse.
