Call in to the Rock before you go. RR has changed their hours and now actually closes. I believe new games start up at between 11am and noon.
Be aware that playing in a casino is a very different environment than playing home games. And playing cash games is very, very different than playing in a tournament.
In home games, your competition is usually weaker, and playing against smaller fields (most home games are between 6-8 players) where most casino games are up to 10. This changes the dynamic of the game and positional play and hand selection are much more important. In home games, there are also more people (at least a few) who are there for the social aspect. At the casino, there may be a few, but most are trying to take your stack.
Also, in tourneys, you are limited to a buy in. If it is $50, then that is all you can loose. So if you call 3000 chips with top pair, you can only lose $50. In a cash game, you stand to lose much, much more.
My suggestion is go check it out. Play the $1-2 cash game and see how you do. I would limit yourself to 2 buy-ins. Get a feel for the game. Chances are there will be 1 or 2 "beginners", 2-6 players with experience but not that good, and 2-4 solid players. If you are just starting, basically your goal should be play against the weaker players and avoid the solid players. You should be able to tell in the first 4-6 hands who these players are. If you can, sit down in late position and wait til your blind to play. Watch the way the hands are played and get a sense as to who the stronger and weaker players are. Leave if you feel you can't beat the game or you are up enough.
