The effects of child abuse....
Granted, sexual abuse can lower ones bodily boundaries since they were violated previously. However, I doubt that the initial thought going through a woman's head when considering this line of work is " Well, since I've been violated and think so little of myself that I may as well keep doing it and get paid for it."
You must underestimate the amount of self esteem a woman must have in order to actually be successful in this business. Oftentimes, and on this board especially the "client base" is very dehumanizing and degrading. In order for a woman to successfully continue her work, she has to have some pretty good ideas about her own self esteem and self worth to be able to cope with certain attitudes.
Also, victims of sexual abuse often associate sex with guilt, emotional pain, an d other things that don't "feel good". People that were sexually abused and then become "loose" with their bodies don't do it because of sexual pleasure, but rather because of the disassociation with their bodies.

Some valid points, but abuse causes people to think differently, if there was no abuse, their thought patterns wouldnt be disrupted in the first place.

Some victims go through as you describe but others learn that sex feels good and its a stress relief, just like any drug.

Food for thought: Chimpanzees don't sexually abuse their young. Most animals don't, just us humans

I would say we evolved, but manmade Religion caused some to be celibate, which is against natural order of enjoying sex. Even today priests trying to be celibate end up molesting children. Once learned its easier for a child to grow up and molest children, it becomes an acceptable behavior. The mind cannot take to much trauma! Thats what molestation does it traumatizes the mind. The kids all react differently but they all suffer to one degree or another.

And you are quite correct, some species do kill their young. We are quite a violent bunch, but for the most part we dont condone killing young. But in the regard of molesting young we fare badly, but at least we don't kill them.

Interesting note: It used to be thought, our DNA was closest to the Chimpanzee, but another type of cousin has been found that shares even more of our DNA. The Bonobo, these monkies live in a matriarchal society and the females are Bi-Sexual and both sexes tend to masterbate often.

I think your list is pretty good as well..my take on it would be.

Mental issues.( i think most people have them,somemore serious than others )

Money (easy money,kind of like crime ..the pay is good)

Drugs ( to cover up the deeper issues they may encounter over prolonged peroids in the trade and life.After all one can only hide from ones self for so long.)

They like sex (this one is the rarest i think, ive only encountered one nympho.)

Truthfully though i think the mental issues over ride it all, for whatever reason and there are many ,people just cant seems to deal or cope with what they have encountered in their lives.

I don't know if this has already been said, but shouldn't actual SPs be answering this poll?!? Unfortunately us ladies in red can't vote in polls. As I've said before, it seems unfair that we should be punished for being paying advertisers, un-red ladies can still vote. (And yes, I realize life isn't fair )

I think that asking the girls would get a more accurate answer, all this poll's results are are assumptions & conjecture on the part of the giuys, no offense...

My answer: it really varies from woman to woman, just like with any job, different people have different reasons or motivations. Also, the reason that one gets into the business can be different from the reason one stays in the business.

I think that the answers from sp's have much more meaning than what the numbers show regardless.
