Just a follow-up to an earlier thread. She did undertake a bit of a mini-makeover and her singing was pretty good - good enough to make it to the finals.

I am sure some of you pooners might have wanted to vote for this hot belly dancer (Julia Naidenko) or the hot Asian with the Violin - Sue Son.

The funniest one though was Darth Jackson.

Susan Boyle is amazing....

I watched the Britian's Got Talent semi-finals as it was being uploaded to their website yesterday.

For those Susan Boyle fans...

She sang "Memory" from Cats. Her performance was absolutely amazing! Especially near the end...her voice brought me to tears.

However, she did get off to a shaky start. The first few words she sang her voice cracked, but then you could see her place her hand on her tummy to find the notes and after that she completely nailed them.

She was clearly nervous which is why she may have got off to a shaky start. I can't really blame her though, her audition video on youtube has had 190 million hits...wow...the whole world was watching.

I personally think that the fact that she nailed the song after a shaky start just shows what an incredible talent she truly is...

Not to mention an incredible inspiration that an ordinary person can do the extraordinary.

Go Susan Go!

HB - in between reading about your anticipated first review, the "rumors of your demise" and your 40 virgin boy episode ~ what was wrong with the belly dancer? :p

Excuse me, lets not get people confused with HB and Hubba

What was wrong with the belly dancer is you can find better talent at the peeler bar, I could better judge her technique if I saw her on a pole....and I don't mean dancing. ;)

The hype surrounding this supposed "undiscovered talent" is proof there's one born every minute.

At least she made it to the Finals, unlike the Nucks who just got lucky in '94 & '82.

You get mediocre goalies like Captain Dirk in between the pipes, any goalie w/ that name won't lead a team to the promised land.

I'm not sure what you are mocking there, the "undiscovered" part or the "talent" part.
If you don't like her singing then fine, to each their own. However, it sounds like she was definitely legitimately undiscovered though. Checking her Wikipedia entry, she sounds like a total wannabe nobody before BGT. And if it's on the Internet, it's gotta be true! :D

Yeesh! Good thing they've got Susan. Darth and the belly dancer were mediocre at best. A lot of what these people seem to be relying on is the staging of the show. With all those lights, music and special effects, I could walk around on stage picking my nose and get applause.

The two girls were pretty hot though.

You obviously have no clue how a show like that works, and how many scouts, producers, and judges she would have filtered through by the time her "grand debut" occurred.

But hey, Wikipedia says so, must be true, right

Not saying she doesn't have a great voice - but the hype is fake, deliberate, and manufactured. Period.

Oh, gotcha. You're referring to things like the artificial surprise of the 3 judges on the first show. That sort of thing.
I thought you were implying a Paul Potts sort of thing where he'd done professional work before and fallen off the scene and then was "discovered" by BGT.
They're not doing very good scouting if the rest of the videos in the OP are anything to go off of. 2 of the 3 were strictly amateur.

Diversity was outstanding last night...

However, I think that the real winner, even without winning the title, was Susan Boyle.

She won the hearts of millions and now has a core of die-hard fans that can hardly wait to buy a cd of hers. I also think that she might be the only one in the competition that has a future in entertainment that will last beyond the immediate hype of the show.

However, the choreographer of the Diversity group is likely to go very far in life as well.

Now you know how everyone else feels about you
Dude, if you're going to play, please be more creative, and willing to type a few words here and there.

All you do is copy and paste that black cartoon.

I least bring up valid points about the Nucks, their curse, their futilities, their scouting deficiencies, their managements' faults, etc. (see, the fact the list goes on and on, just shows the many negatives this franchise has)

All you do is still blindly support them instead of constructive criticism. You dont really care.

I do. i wanna see them win, and run professionally like the Detroits, San Joses, Montreals, Dallas's, New Jersey's, etc.

This team is so Mickey Mouse, and some of their so-called fans reflect that. (cough cough)
