Here's a scenario - remember the shoe thrown at President Bush? Let's, for a moment, say it was weapon. Now, who's protecting the president? Secret service - who are highly trained and skilled agents who can, in no problem, kill someone to save the president. And YET, the shoe was still thrown. If these guys can't protect the president for that moment and allowed some weapon to be thrown at the President of the United States of America. How do u think ur able to reach for that gun, machine gun, uzi, or rifle to stop some "intruder" from killing you? In other words, a gun ban will not make it any more likely that u will be better able to protect yourself. A gun ban, however, will act as a deterrant or at least another "inconvenience" for those that do the killing. But if u truly obtain a gun for protection, good luck buddy - it's a false sense of security.
Did u know an assailant at 30' away weilding a knife can slice a cop before he unholsters his weapon. unless u got that finger on the trigger 24/7 pointed at ur bedroom door every night, ur chances of being able to use the gun when u NEED it are incredibly minute.
