I posted this in the middle of another long thread and I think it deserves its own thread.

Pick a Group
There is info at http://www.wccsip.ca/BCCEC.html for the BC Coalition of Experiential Communities. If everyone got behind that group with whatever support they were comfortable providing there would be a better chance of getting government support for survival sex workers. Help them and everyone will benefit.
If you know of another group that would be a better focus for support and action then lets hear about it.

Then, this morning I found these comments about inventors forming a professional association. These comments could apply to sex trade workers. A well supported voluntary association can challenge bad info in the press, fight bad laws or bylaws and improve working conditions for the worst off. Doing these things will improve conditions for all sex trade workers regardless of their income level or type of service.
Vancouver could have an international reputation as a sex trade friendly city where workers make good money, clients get good service and there is no dark underbelly in the industry.

EVENT: coffee meeting to discuss creating a Professional Association of Inventors & Innovative Product Developers
DESCRIPTION:
If we collectively decide to form it, this group could make recommendations to Fed. & Prov. govt. about how to effectively fund innovative product development, which work usually appears to go effectively unfunded today.
It might perhaps even oversee the whole process of innovative product development funding, doing things which seem to be ignored by current processes, such as identifying social priorities/targets and "ultimate potential value", prospects for success, lessons to be gained for future projects in the event of failure, past achievement record and qualifications of applicants, and funding the small but vital amounts, beneath current funding program radar screens, often required for initial product research and prototype development.
Also potential for discussion: qualifications for membership, format of organization & meetings.

There is a huge opportunity for changes that will benefit everyone, whether client, provider or general public.
