These are the same “christians” who want the 10 commandments plastered everywhere, supposedly as an example for children to follow.

She’s violating 2 of them already, and it’s a good bet that she has that mini van loaded up at Wal-Mart on Sundays.

Batshit crazy HypoCristians.

When you're facing your own mortality, you begin to question whether the conclusions you have arrived at are correct.

i recommend this book to every human being: Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari (2011)

the human species use belief for social organization. the beliefs don't have to be scientifically verifiable.

and you may have the opinion that religion is for the week minded... but you'd be surprised how many beliefs that you currently hold that are important purely for social organization.

".....

But it isn't just for one's social organization is it. Have many people have been or are still being killed, persecuted or discrimated against because of religion. How many believe that their religion is the one true religion? And their religion asks them to save others, or enslave others, or kill others. For much of human history, invading forces would kill people who were not of their religion, or force conversion on them. Religion was also used to scapegoat others for things one did not understand. For example, during the black plague, many Christians blamed Jews as causing the plague. The colonial powers believed that the people of the colonized people were inferior, in part, because of their religious beliefs.

Centuries of history show us that religion creates tribalism and conflict. In human history, more conflicts have been caused and people killed in the name of religion that anything else.

of course you are correct. but these are all symptoms of social organization and competition between those organized group.

we might, for example, believe that being Canadian is the best and be willing to die in conflict for it... and yet under scrutiny being Canadian is difficult to quantify/qualify compared to other national belief systems.

not sure if this is good or bad news... but the human race is on a very particular path. we've gone from thousands of small tribes to under three hundred nations. "globalization", the EU and other constructs are really just another extension of our moving to a global society.
