Every small towns in my area growing up Bell Canada had an analog/electric systems in each town that would recognize the local last 5 digit . So dialing was quick and easy to remember ...lol
When I grew up there was no dial on the phone, you simply picked it up and either listened to the party line or waited for the operator to say "Number please" .... Area code??? What's that.
i think they recycle numbers. I used to change my number often. Every few months sometimes. I was bad with paying bills. My dad said he needed to get a new phone book just for me and all my numbers!! Now I’ve had the same number on both phones for over 15 years 🤪😱
