Harmony, I don't think it's fair to label anyone that has an opinion other then yours as extreme right or maga. It's one of the 8 insults (like your coy fox one or being bias) that are flung as if having an opinion other then the status quo is a wrong. I'm not calling you an antifa extremist or terrorist, even though you give laugh emojis at every legitimate point I've made and a like at every lame jab against these views. You don't believe in democracy, difference of opinion, freedom of speech and a collaborative government?
I'm dual citizen and live both in USA and Canada. I started like most young people on the extreme left (for Canada that was the ndp until Liberal went extreme and NDP values apparently went away making them irrelevant federally).
As I learned about work, life, had a family and raised boys I learned how flawed the current system is. The intentions and ideas seem good but they do so little. We both reside in areas where homelessness and drugs are a real problem. I used to believe the NDP were the party that cares and makes a difference. People before profit. I donated time and money for the cause, my late wife ran a non profit for at risk women and we lived for making a difference. The issues is the people before profit isn't what you think. The 'people' they are talking about isn't the homeless and addicts. It's the blanket of support. The programming and the business around it. The bureaucracy. Puffing out your chest, saying how much you're going to spend on a problem (that was Trudeau's favorite) doesn't fix any problems. It just makes buddies rich. Money has never solved homelessness or addiction. The BC government said they are going to dedicate 1.4 Billion to homelessness. They also said there is 2400 homeless as of '22. Even if you times that number by 3, it would seem if you actually wanted to fix the problem there would be money to give each person a home and team of support. But government programing is like most charities, less then 10% of the funds ends up going to the actual end users. The rest goes towards the big machine that is heavily administration. Winnipeg has a toilet in the core for homeless. It costs a million dollars and took 3 years of planning (most of that million) before it went in. In the past 2 years it's been closed more then open and hasn't been open since last year. Our provincial govt is more interested in bringing injection sites to Winnipeg and toilets are no longer a priority.
I'm not expecting you to read a stranger's comments and completely change your views, that takes time. But just remember, a lot of people on the right used to be on the left. They didn't get dumber, they gained knowledge, life experience and education and yes, some are hillbilly rednecks that want their guns. I also know liberals that love their guns. Canada used to not be a left or right country. Everyone went left and the middle went further left then the former extreme party.
Rachel is entertaining. But she also has to apologize for innacuracies regularly and it's just an opinion show. I watch all news outlets but Fox is only if I want to watch the full unedited interview or announcement.
