name some
Here are some transferable skills and skills you need to be a provider/companion. You absolutely cannot say this is not a job and that SWers do not have job skills when we do many jobs in one

•Receptionist (answering messages)

•Administrator (booking, organizing
appointments, organizing contacts)

•Accountant & Bookkeeper (keeping track of finances coming and going, invoicing, financial planning)

•Marketing Director (social media, ads, branding)

•Photo Editor (editing photos for ads & social media)

•Video editor (editing videos for social media/online content)

•Graphic Designer (making flyers/posters for ads & social media as well as logos or branding)

•Writer (writing ads, social media posts, website content, replying to clients

•Web Designer (if you create your own website)
•Esthetician (skin care, body hair care, nail care, etc)

•Makeup Artist (daily makeup)

•Hair stylist (dauly

•Counsellor (listening to clients problems & issues)

•Entertainer (talking, engaging with our clients, or anything entailing being “on” with every client no matter what happening in our personal lives)

•Sexologist (being an expert in sex)

It also is very surprising how many men are surprised to hear that many of us have had careers in other professions and/or have college or university education. I was an exotic dancer to put myself through college where I was an educator for quite a while (was teaching in the day and stripping at night when I first began to teach), and went back to college when I moved to BC where I graduated from BCIT’s web design program and worked in IT as a web developer then as an office administrator. I have also done many jobs on the side or between, where I also right now model professionally, am a professional makeup and fx artist, am an artist and do some graphic design too.

Also to note I have known and know of people in the industry who put their money away, invest it, and retire early. Many also go to college or university while doing this or save up money to start their own businesses. Some do this part time, some do this full time. Some will will do this for a short time, some more long time. But yes, you do need and will acquire many skills to be in this industry.

It’s amazing how well some of these perberts think they know sex workers lol

Once everything is up and running, ie a good website, places to advertise, great photos, separate everything for yourself and for work, etc, the rest is pretty easy. But putting all of that together is real work. Maintaining a social media presence for a private introvert like myself is also real work. Trust me on that.

I love my clients that I have. Sweet easy delightful people, all of them. Occasionally I see somebody a bit difficult, but I’m really good at navigating people. People are the easy part. I also genuinely love being naked.

it’s easy to paint everybody with the same brush but we’re all just people, living life the best way we can.

.
I never asserted that I know everything about sex work, no "perberts" have.

Just keep in mind that some of us have interacted with hundreds of sex workers and may even know some personally, not just in a work context. Thus, we are entitled to have and express our opinions. If you believe that only experts in a particular field should have opinions, you might want to reconsider your recent posts.

I recognize that it's a challenging job that I wouldn't want to do. However, the administrative aspect appears to be straightforward, easy and not very time-consuming, and I've heard other women in your profession express similar sentiments about the administrative side.

I believe you could find greater happiness in life if you refrain from interpreting everything as a personal attack, particularly online and in text format communication, where tone can easily be misinterpreted :)

Absolutely no one has said that.

That is literally every job
I never said someone here said that, but some comments seem to infer that, and I’m generally speaking when saying this.

Also I never said other jobs don’t entail doing many jobs in one, I’m just pointing out the many job skills required to do SW.

Someone asked to name what transferable skills one needs to do SW, so I gave an answer.

You may want to take your own advice here seeing how you reply to many fellow members and providers/companions on this board. There is no need to be rude and condescending to others for no real reason. Cheers!

I never take anything as a personal attack. I found your post condescending so I commented on it. Thats it. My reply was definitely said without emotion. My skin is thick. Thank you for caring about my personal happiness 😘

Folks.... Please keep to the thread. This is not a thread about what a current escorts skills are needed for them to do the job well. I started the thread to inquire what current escorts were employed at before they decided to be escorts.

I was a counselor for street youth when I was younger. I worked for a few different non profit organizations. That was my last job in the real world. I wanted something light and easy so i went to work in a massage parlor. The rest is history lol. I have a bit of post high school education.

Sex work is easy. Don’t get me wrong. I love sex work because of how easy I find it. there are aspects of it tho that aren’t as fun as other aspects. For example, I used to get a lot of abusive or gross texts. I’ve probably blocked them all tho cause now I rarely get any 🤪. Maybe I’m no fun. I just ignore and block. I’m careful to see people where I think we’ll appreciate each other. But this can be a very dangerous job and it can be rough on your self esteem. I have a few friends with serious ptsd from sex work.

There are a ton of transferable skills tho. Anybody who says there isn’t, isn’t looking deep enough.

I’ve also been a stripper, and I worked for a while in a restaurant, and when I was a teen, I had a job in the baggage section of the greyhound. Out of all the jobs I hated the most was restaurant work, close second was the greyhound lol.

currently I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.

Funny thing is, I found out a lady who used to give our high school classes every year "the talk" in grade 9 as part of sex Ed, was previously a sex worker. In many ways this makes sense and is a good example of how skills can be transferable, who better to educate? There are also parallels im sure to being a counselor while doing sex work, more often than not you're probably dealing with a first timer who may be nervous and needs to be "comforted" before letting loose also. There are certain aspects to sex work that bring in a "care" component.

I recently met two separate and unrelated SPs in a span of a couple of weeks who conveyed to me during the course of chit-chat that their full time job was at a bubble tea shop.

Yeah, those places do well. They serve food too, and are open late. I remember in my old neighborhood at 2 AM on a Tuesday night the bubble tea place serving fried chicken was open and always busy. These places are also cash only, so it's quite lucrative for the staff and owners. It's a good way tohavw something to show on your income taxes, while making the real money doing sex work.

I started my first business with four employees when I was 15, and always have a few running.

Current sectors are in finance, life coaching, tourism, and agriculture.

I’ve recently developed an interest in land development and am in the process of clearing land and bringing in water/sewage. This is going to be a long process!

Along the way, I have continued to do a few photo shoots or appearances as a a lingerie model and fitness model. I’m also a dancer/singer/performer, Not the naked kind. but absolute respect to any of the ladies, who are slaying at that! .

There is no doubt that escorts have to employ many duties other than the "service".
These duties are the same for all self employed individuals.
Just because you perform book keeping does not make you an accountant, and just because you may have put together your own web page does not make you a web developer.
The above sentence applies to all self employed individuals.
The reality is that many women who do this started at a very early age, and have acquired none of the basic employment skills, and not proficient enough with the added skills to be useful.
Many self employed individuals are not employable for many of the same reasons.

With no job experience, and limited proficiency at any of the special skills, they are less employable than someone fresh out of school, because they tend to be older when they finally give up this profession, and as a result, they are less mould able than a young person.

We are all guilty of overselling ourselves, but lets come to earth and look at this through an honest lens.

Plus, I believe this topic may have left the tracks.

I am old enough to remember when a 'traffic controller' was known as a flag girl, and the uniform was not fluorescent yellow but a bikini top and cut-off shorts. They slowed traffic down but increased traffic numbers, with guys driving around the block to get another look.
