I think the environment minister Steven gilbeault is little more than an eco-terrorist. Will be great to see him lose his job next election. Then he can go back to chaining himself to gas pumps. He’s not qualified to do much more than that.
Actually, according to Stats Canada this figure has averaged 10.5% since 2015 (11.8% if excluding the outliers of 2020 and 2021), and was consistently above 13% in prior years.
Frankly, the old do deserve to get what they were promised. They worked hard and did their part. What would you do differently?

This is absurd. They are not mutually exclusive. Moreover, taxation is not viewed in economics as a means of funding government, it is viewed as a means of controlling money supply. A government deficit is merely a net injection of money into the market, and government debt is a means of deferring and reducing the inflationary impacts of this injection (the principal liability is the deferral, the interest liability is the reduction).

Do you want to know why I am an anything but conservative voter and believe in paying taxes? Because conservatives and tax evasion are both bad for business. The small government ideology of modern conservatives has a negative impact on both the size and wealth of the consumer base (though it does grow the wealth of the wealthiest few), meaning reductions in sales revenues for many of my clients (those with lower incomes have a higher propensity to spend each additional dollar of income). Tax evasion has inflationary effects (less money removed from supply than budgeted), which increases costs for my clients. This means less profit for my clients which means my own income ends up suffering. My political views are shaped not by someone telling me what to do, but by rational self-interest.

the amount of money that goes to "social justice bullshit" does not even register in the budget. its not even visible. the rich need to make up issues in order to get the stupid to vote for their borrowing more and taxing the wealthy less and making sure that nobody fucks with big oil, big finance or any of the other rulers and their massive government handouts/bailouts.
and its only "tax freedom day" for poor slaves that are taxed at source. which i assume you are or were before you retired... which i know because once you start to derive your income from elsewhere then it immediately opens your eyes that, yes, the tax system is not fair... its not fair for most people, because its easily avoided once you're in the corporate tax regime. i haven't paid personal tax in 30 years... my corporate "tax freedom day" is January 20th.

Last time the CPC were in power:
- 2 recessions
- poor jobs and GDP growth
- inherited surplus budgets from Liberals and turned them into a string of deficits
- handed the richest corporations $60 billion in tax cuts, most of which flowed to US head offices; we got stuck with the tab
- gifted billions more to the US auto manufacturers, and lost most of it
- because so many CPC MPs were fast food franchise owners, gave us the temporary foreign workers program to provide the fast food industry with cheap labour.
stats Canada is using income tax, that doesn't mean they're living in poverty
