The title of the thread may be a bit dramatic, but the final 6 episodes of Letterkenny are available for viewing on Crave. While not every episode a gem, overall the series was hilarious, sexy and the wordplay weirdly intelligent. Because it was never mean spirited it could violate every angle of political correctness available in Canada. I had tickets to see the traveling version of the show but COVID axed that opportunity. Long live Letterkenny!

End of an era, but the good times live on.

SPOILERS AHEAD

I came upon Letterkenny late, about season 7 or 8 and enjoyed going back right to Youtube and watching it all the way through. Just finished the last episode of season 12. At 6 episodes per season, with a few with 7, and a couple or 3 special episodes, it was not even 4 full seasons of real TV. Ending it now honestly seemed a bit premature, but I get wanting to go out on top. They had real trouble shoe-horning some of the minors characters into the last season and a few like Joint Boy never made it. Glen, Coach, Alexander, all were really afterthoughts and even Tanis was just a bit player. I will never get enough Mrs. McMurray and she wasn't on screen near enough. Ditto Bonnie McMurray.

Overall, loved it, Canadian humor and lots of it. Some absolutely hysterical stuff, really hit home for lots of people, especially those brought up anywhere near a farm. There were some bumps along the way to be sure.

I will never believe that Marie-Fred would have cheated on Wayne. The writers panicked that a married Wayne would get domesticated, or the actor playing her had a contract issue or maybe another gig. Lazy writing to exit her. No way Bonnie McMurray doesn't end up with a guy, that's a crime against nature. Modean's should have burned down at least once more. Dary deserved to end up with a gal who wasn't a degen and maybe to get out of his barn clothes more often. Stewart grew up and then completely regressed to his skid roots, a real shame. I do not understand how Anik hosts a show on TSN on Shoresy, but still shows up at Modean's for a shift or two in season 12. Think it was just about getting her a cameo I guess.

Some of the episodes in 11 and 12 got downright painful to watch, and some were clearly written to set up other stuff. The stand-up comedy episode coincides with the launch of the Coach and Friends (Mark Norman and the two writers turned stand up comics) Letterkenny comedy tour being the most obvious. K Trevor Wilson is a touring comic, and well worth the price of a ticket. Hopefully Kamila Kovall and Michelle Mylett can pick up other work, they have some real talent beyond their smoke show looks. There's a deal in place will Bell and Crave for a whole raft of spinoffs and Letterkenny universe content, along with more seasons of Shoresy. Sure hope they don't fuck it up.
