Traveling with condoms - Did You Know

So an interesting thing happened recently. A provider was travelling and had 2 unopened boxes of condoms (24 in total).
She had a carry-on, and when they pulled her over, noticed and said that the condoms counted as a liquid -
has anyone else ever heard of this before? Blew my mind that's for sure.

I wonder if they were lose (not in a box) and thus not considered a single item if it would have been acceptable. You can take a few small tubes of toothpaste or mouthwash that if combined into one bottle would exceed the limit.

Acumu-Lube Syndrome. 24X whatever the lube content per condom is makes this two-four a serious terrorist threat! 🤪. Plus the big pack likely won’t fit in the little plastic liquids/gels baggie.

Now if the condoms were loose / freely rolling around in the clear baggie, and let’s just say for chuckles that they were ‘previously enjoyed’ with 15-20ml of man-goo in each one, it might just be ok! Super gross 🤮 but safe to fly 😝

Condoms went in the "trash"

Yes just another day in the life of a travelling PRO - don't forget to tip them, liquids are expensive

This is BS. Yes you can carry condoms on a plane, and it doesn’t count as a liquid, and flight guidelines recommend they be in your carry on too. Absolutely ridiculous.

I have had super small amounts of tanning lotion and body spray, super small where they confiscated it. Sometimes security at airports can be jerks and I think it’s a power trip thing.

Super small or large amounts don't matter. The rules of what you can pack in a carryon and what needs to go in checked luggage exist for a reason. The limited quantities also exist for a reason.

Chemicals that can be mixed to create explosives can be disguised and thats why we have limits on liquids so that even if someone manages to bring a dangerous liquid on board, they can't do significant harm with it.

The security is just doing their jobs and enforcing the rules they have been tasked with (they aren't powertripping or targeting you or being a jerk to you in particular).

The good news is that as technology is evolving we can slowly lift these restrictions. AFAIW, UK is testing a pilot project with better scanners that can distinguish between liquids and hence you will be allowed to take whatever quantities in whichever packaging in future.
