Asking/collecting deposits seems to be very tricky as im finding. The dilema is for me when I find myself on the recieving end of the doop....
I really dont like asking for deposits and I understand why people dont want to do them, but when I find myself on the recieving end of the doop it not only puts me out money it makes me feel stupid and trusting, I understand its the name of the game but ill give an example, I had just been dooped and was requiring a deposit from the following inquiries. The person was reluctant and we had an exchnage about it... i decided that this person seemed for whatevrr reason decent and i would just waive the deposit process, this person was only looking for a massage so i decided that because of this exchnage we had going on i would give them a deal. SOMETHING I NEVER DO. They then messaged me wanting to change the time and duration due to the fact that tjey had a job opportunity come up( they claimed they were a photographer) things just seemed to be getting a little too wishy washy. None the less they said they were on their way at the time. I gave them the exact address and when they arrived they told me they were at the pub next door... which didnt really make sense. At this point were on the phone. I told them i could come get them as i know it can be confusing with parking in the back and front. Which still didnt explain why they were at the pub next close by and not infront or back of the building. None the less i went downstairs thinking it may help the situation... only to find this persons number disconnected or blocked. A few days prior i had someone running extremely late, which I was understanding of because they said they got pulled over for speeding🙄 then when going to buzz they said there was a cop outside and got spooked. There is no way of telling whats true or not but effectively all of this was just a huge was of time.
Its experiences like this that make it seem like a no brainer to get a deposit for new or still in the process of building trust with clients. Im finding this to be a huge barrier and was wondering if anyone has navigated this situation better than I currently have.
