If you feel the need for speed, see Top Gun - Maverick on the biggest screen you can find. Great follow-up to the original Top Gun. And I gotta say (as a complete heterosexual) Tom Cruise is a really handsome guy, for a 60 year old. And Jennifer Connelly is a gorgeous MILF, bordering on GILF.
You had me at Jennifer Connelly.

When she was 19, she made "The Hot Spot" (1990) with Don Johnson. It's really a great movie, and we see all of Jennifer.

I always suspected that director Dennis Hopper is a "dirty old man" and this movie confirms that. "The Hot Spot" has quite a bit of erotic nudity and not fleeting scenes, but lots of it! The full chest shot of 19-yr-old Jennifer Connelly was quite remarkable!
Jen is on the left.

Crimes Of The Future (2022)

Directed by David Croneneberg
Starring Viggo Mortensen, Lea Seydoux and Kristen Stewart.

I have enjoyed some of the directors past films(Videodrome, Scanners and the Fly),
but this one left me indifferent; it seemed overly restrained and unengaging.
The plot of the movie gives a reason for this but still. Those who are not fans of the director might want to skip it.
I'll try to watch it again some other time to see if it was just me.
My reaction exactly. I just lost interest in it midway thru.

GOLD
I watched it online (Amazon, I believe). It has a very small but very effective plot. Two strangers in the middle of a dessert find a HUGE nugget (rather a bit rock) of gold. It is so big that they would need bigger equipment to haul it. One of them goes back to town to get one and other one stays behind alone, with limited water, food, shelter and surrounded by wild dogs. Not to mention some other humans showing up.

There are limited characters (they don't even have names!!) in the movie but it is very well acted (esp by Zac Efron) and directed. The tone and feel of the movie is very grim and graphic at times.

I enjoyed it and I recommend it.

So I took you up on your recommendation. Was full of anticipation. Sorry. Painful. Not a date movie. Started fast forwarding to the ending to see if it had a point. It didn't. At what times wasn't it grim and graphic?

Sorry mate, no it is not a date movie at all. Certainly not when you read 'grim and graphic' and "surrounded by wild dogs' in the review. :)

I am not much into this stuff either but I watched and liked it. Each to their own I guess.

The Gray Man (2022) available on Netflix.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
Starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Alfre Woodard, Billy Bob Thorton, Ana De Armas.

The Good: Chris Evans performance stands out. A few good action scenes.

The Bad: Plotholes big enough to drive a tank through, characters make dumb choices, paper thin characters. With the amount of talent in this production this was disappointing. A John Wick/Mission Impossible/Jason Bourne knockoff.

Score: 4.5/10. You can get some enjoyment if you turn your brain off, otherwise maybe skip.

Only a remake of first half of Dune. Hopefully part 2 comes out soon
Next US Thanksgiving !!! Like a President's second term, sky's the limit thanks to this greenlight.
The villian in #1 excited Hollywood. Expect a more horror-feel for double the suspense in #2.

And yet Netflix tied up big to this like marriage. They're franchising it. Expect at least one sequel.

13 Lives. Directed by Ron Howard. Amazon prime video. I thought it was friggin brilliant. Ron Howard knocked it out of the park. About the Thai boys and their coach who got trapped in the caves from hell and the heroic rescue against all odds. Kept me on the edge of my seat even though I knew the outcome. Great film making.

I was living in Bangkok when this was happening.
The country was consumed by it,understandably
When the last of the boys was brought out it was a HUGE celebration in all the gogo bars, massage places beer bars etc.
Unforgettable.

Suppose I'll watch it, but the National Geographic documentary on the rescue is as riveting as anything you'll see.

A recommendation Rogue Agent. Another one of those movies based on a story almost too strange to believe. Stars the lovely Gemma Arterton.

Agreed. The National Geographic documentary was perfect. Another movie probably didn't need to be made, but sometimes you watch anyway. It was good on it's own terms. Will check out Rogue Agent. Looks good.

Bullet-train with Brad Pitt. Good pacing, good scripts, lots of interesting moments. Funny. Saw it this week and thought that it was great. Good enough that I would see it more than once.
