Hi!

I can’t find any information specific to the new BC vaccine passport. I know they are required to quarantine for two weeks when entering Canada because it is not recognized in that way.

But is it recognized for the BC vaccine passport?

It seems like overkill to require people to have four shots to access events. But I would love a link to something official if anyone has one.

Thank you!

It's not authorized for use in Canada nor is it presently being reviewed for approval in Canada. My guess is that BC doesn't "recognize" it for vaccine passport purposes. Further complicating matters would be that your vaccine status is known to regional health authorities in BC (assuming you got vaccinated in BC), I wouldn't even know how a resident of BC (let's say they got vaccinated in Ontario with Canada approved vaccines) would go about getting a BC Vaccine Passport (I'm guessing they would need to go in person to order/get their vaccine passport show your proof of vaccination and bob's your uncle). But Sinovac (I'm guessing) might be an altogether different story. Call the BC vaccine passport number, I had to call them last week for some family members - it wasn't even a 5 minute wait.

I would assume BC will Coat-Tail on Health Canada's recommendations . It looks like one additional Dose of a mRNA Vaccine would be required to be considered Fully Vaccinated ? 🤔

This is the kind of link we will allow - a governmental source, not some dipshit blog supposedly written by a nurse with a degree from buyyourdegreeonline.com who has also posted that all viruses don't actually exist and are a mental condition.

I have a business visitor who is (maybe was) planning a visit in October who also is Sinovac vaccinated. As per the Gov Can protocol https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/t...ed-travellers-entering-canada#determine-fully, Sinovac is not recognized in the authorized vaccine list. Some countries are suggesting an mRNA shot as a third or booster shot and there is good data showing 3 shots of Sinovac take its efficacy way up from its approx 55% value to at least the high 70% range.

But right now, it's just not recognized in Canada.

This is no doubt something that needs sorting as those who have had AZ then a Pfizer or Moderna shot are not recognized in the States. Despite that particular combination offering what may be the highest immune response of any 2 shot vaccine. I am not sure if there is a plan in place in Canada where folks with Sinovac or AZ can get an additional shot of an mRNA vaccine but that has to be coming to account for just these situations.

You can get vaccinations received in Ontario recognized to get your BC Vaccine Passport and no you don't go in person.

In Manitoba you can get a third shot if your first was AZ and you need it for travel or have a chronic illness but you need a doctors note. I assume other provinces have a similar program, I know QC does.

Sinovac is being accepted for the BC vaccine card. My friend just got his approved after about a 7 day wait. He came back from Hong Kong and is a Canadian citizen. I'm not sure if they're taking it on a case by case basis or if they've recently decided it's acceptable.
