What's with all the pop-ups?

No, I don't want a Russian mail-order bride, and I don't want to be asked time and time again while I try to surf perb. I haven't been on here in a minute but ever since I logged back on I've been bombarded with these silly ads. Is that my punishment for staying away?

Nothing to do with Perb. sounds like you have downloaded some pups (Potentially Unwanted Programs). They have hijacked your browser. Run a scan, delete them, clear your cache.

I've been getting them on my Firefox desktop and my Chrome on my Android phone.
They're pop unders. They open up a new window with the link that you clicked on, while the original window gets redirected to an ad. I usually get Ashley Madison.

I've gotten it from clicking on the first link that I click on when I reach the forums, which is usually "New Posts".

Thanks! I was getting these, thought it was the price to pay to surf until I read this thread. Cleared my history and they are gone.

Interesting.

I had assumed that Perb was generating extra rev thru addition of the pop ups, but I guess that’s not the case according to Mods.

Totally sucks because the pop ups disable the browsing history for the session and you can’t go backwards in the viewing chain, which totally kills the browsing experience.

I’ve pretty much tried everything to get rid of the annoying Ashley Madison ads from my end on Safari in my iPhone.

1.Cleared history
2. Shut off Java in advanced settings
3. Shut off cookies
4. Cleared website data
5. Deleted and reinstalled Safari

The next step maybe is a 3rd party ad blocker. Can anyone suggest a good one?

BTW, I also tried browsing Perb in Duck-Duck-Go and the same pop ups appear, which leads me to believe that the pop ups are coming from a different source than my device or browser. Any insight from you tech heads would be appreciated…

but you did not run a scan. I still say it is pups. Lots of free scanners, Malwarebytes is one. And use Brave as a browser. It does not allow any popups, even legit ones.

This is not a malware. This is the ad network used by the website.
If you don't see it, it's most likely because you're using an ad blocker that is effective at blocking pop under.

I get pop ups on my iPad and iPhone whenever I log into perb then again before I can read any forum. Most of them are Ashley Madison pop ups. very annoying. I agree with ickyppontang that once I leave it idle for 10 mins or so, when I want to read another forum, sure enuf , another pop up. It’s very annoying and I put up with it only bc I thought it was mandatory and something perm was doing to generate revenue. But it makes me want to visit this site less often. However, if the mods says it’s not perb, then I don’t know what. Also , it only happens on this site, so prob not a PuP.

for me to make post , I get this
