No, you cannot draw any conclusions from this. We don't know how many people knew the answer, but didn't find their choice. Maybe 1,000,000 people wanted to answer and only 100 were wrong, or misclicked, or answered as a joke.

Not knowing the context, one could consider it might be not a base-ten problem (where the answer is 10), but base-six (where 14 is the correct answer) or base-seven (where the answer is 13).
There were many many replies to this posted tweet most people thought the answer was 16 so there’s that context. Base six or base 7? Seriously doubt that applies in this case. Most of the numb nuts that replied to the Twitter post don’t grasp base 10, never mind base 6 or 7.

My comment might be related here, hope it isn't drivel, but years after I left University I visited one of my old EE profs. This was about 20 years ago. We talked about new times etc and even then he noted that his lectures had to compete with others not from his university but that were mailed in and played from dvd. Now its all internet, back then that was all just starting. The point was he had to teach a first year electromagnetics course. Which uses a lot of math, calculus, algebra and touches on matrix math. He figured piece of cake he would just dust off his notes from about 15 years prior, update things a bit and voila!
Nope. Had to keep dropping the bar down lower and lower as the math was missing. Sure this wasn't basic math but it starts with the general dumbing down and that participation medal everyone gets.
I disagree with the comment earlier that IQ's are getting higher. I think the basics are being skimmed and critical thinking is being replaced by looking things up. Replacing information for knowledge.
Cheers, all

The curse of the smartphone.
Everyone googles random facts but nobody actually knows anything. Anyone can come up with Abraham Lincoln’s birth date while knowing nothing about him.
And how trustworthy is the source?

The fact that a random tweet that has no context whatsoever is inferred by this group as meaning the current generation is dumber than the previous generations tells you everything you need to know about Perb's demographic.

Yup and the fact that a reply to a general discussion on an open forum with an inflammatory post tells you everything you need to know about 'some' of perb's demographics.

Neither the original post nor any of the responses are based upon anything more than anecdotal experience (if even!). If you don't think the opinion of these majority posts are built upon very obvious biases, then you're clearly not very introspective.

Clearly as your posts illustrate such introspection.
Thing is, I'm right.

That doesn't even make any sense. My post merely points out that the other posts were made without any basis, but just anecdotal experience. It's not an opinion, so why would it require me to be introspective?

What are you even "right" about? Just because you disagree with something doesn't make you "right". If you want to have a conversation, I'm all for it... just make some sense please.

Why bother attempting to match wits with you since you're half equipped. No fun in that.

The fact that some of ya'll care to spend more than the 15 seconds to type this says more than enough. Forget the dimwits who actually replied with "16" to the tweet.

And yes, it's beyond sad ppl nowadays can't do simple math.
