I’ve been following the “Perb American Election” thread - and after watching the shit-show in the US - this past week, it occurred to me that both enterprises are overwhelmingly male. While the sniping (and certainty of owning the truth) in both cases is at some level amusing, it’s also a little frightening. I know testosterone drives we males to do some crazy shit, and in politics it is taking us to the brink of extinction.
If I may offer a generalization for consideration: for men (Trump, Hawley, Cruz, Ford) the attraction to politics seems to be the aphrodisiac of power; while for women - Arden, Mantin (Finland), Fredriksen (Denmark) - their motivation seems to be more aligned with community-building. I realize there are many exceptions to what I just stated, but as far as generalizations go, I believe there to be some truth to it. If I’m voting, I will generally vote for the community-building camp.
So I ask, how can we get the destructiveness of our male selves out of politics?
