Joker

A very dark at times quite uncomfortable mood piece.

If you’re really depressed, this may be uplifting. Sarcasm aside it’s very well done as a prequel to Joker vs Batman.

Joaquin Phoenix is quite stunning as the crazed Joker growing up in a crazy home doing a day job trying to make people laugh (unsuccessfully).

Fractured : Caught this psychological whodunnit thriller on Netflix.

A man loses his family during a road trip is the bases of the story. I wouldn’t call it a bad or a good film. It’s ok-ish. Without giving it away, I felt we have seen the premise before. Also although Sam Worthington does a decent job, I still kept on thinking that Mel Gibson would have played the lead very well. I just felt something was kind of missing.
5.5 out of 10.

Waiting for The Irishman.

Dr Sleep- What a excellent movie, total escape for me. The test for me is how many times I check my watch in a flick. Most films its at least 2 times to 3 , not this one. Even at 2.5 hrs not one watch check.

I saw the Korean film Parasite last week, absolutely amazing. Plays as a dark comedy for the first half but by the final act has become something else entirely. It's generating a ridiculous amount of critical acclaim as an equally hilarious and brutally depressing statement on class and aspirationalism.

Second that. Funny, charming, brutal and disturbing, but always surprising.

Yes, I watched this movie a few weeks ago. Excellent, as long as you don't mind reading sub-titles. I must admit I don't much care for the English title, I suspect that the original Korean title works better.

I missed watching it in theaters so I tried to catch it online on one of those sites. The print was good but buffering was horrible. I watched about 30 minutes of it. Within about 5-7 minutes I knew it was going to be one heck of a performance by the guy playing lead. The direction looked spectacular. From whatever I saw, I did not buy Robert de Nero as late night TV show host.
It is still playing in theaters and I am going to watch it VERY soon.

Learn to download movies via bittorrents T8E. There is a good quality version of this movie already available to download via bittorents though it has Korean subtitles. After about 5 mins I no longer notices the subtitles since I can't read Korean.

Friken great film.

Netflix production of Martin Scorsese film “The Irishman”.

It’s a long ass 3 1/2 hours long. I recommend splitting it up into two evenings. My interest waned during the last 90 min and ended up looking at the last part a second time. It’s like a docudrama of Jimmy Hoffa in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. All the usual characters from Goodfellas, Sopranos and Casino have roles in this one

Finally I saw it in theaters this weekend. The acting and direction is top notch! The story itself is .... it is great but don't watch it if you are too sensitive. It can be depressing and dark. Well, it IS depressing and dark. I did enjoy it though. The movie lingered with me for a while. Btw, why did Robert De Niro take such an insignificant role? Anyone could have done it. I guess they hired him for his name to draw more crowds. Anyone else felt that way?

I think it is too late to recommend. But no repeat. Too much darkness for me.

Official Secrets

A British film based upon a true story how the Blair Government lied about the need to go to war in Iraq.

Very good script and the actors are all quite believable in their roles.

It's a solid movie, but kind of like a lot of similar films.

Acting was solid, but my gawd, why couldn't Scorcese hire a decent editor?

Long, repetitive, and pointless dialogue dragged the movie down.
