Just to clarify in case some guys don't realize this; All Season and All Weather tires are not the same thing, not even close to the same thing.

There are basically 3 different tire styles
1-All season
2-All weather
3-Winter
The tire industry kind of dropped the ball with the "All weather" label. It's too close to "All season" and creates confusion about the difference in tread compounds.
I prefer to use other labels when trying to educate people about their options.
1-All season = Summer tires
2-All weather = Hybrid tires
3-Winter = Winter tires
It's not perfect, but it so far it's the best technique I have found that helps simply illustrate the contrast in design.
Yes the names are confusing. Easiest way I find to explain it is that all seasons are summer tires you can use in the winter; all weather are winter tires you can use in the summer.
That's not entirely true. Some tires have stuff like walnut shell or silicon or other materials to help grip ice even though they don't have studs. Also, the design of the tread with multiple saw tooth edges also helps with ice traction.
Braking distance on ice is increased by about 10 times. How much do you think these saw tooth edge tires would improve this? In the big picture on ice its not going to reduce stopping distance by much. Such tires help on snow but barely any improvement on ice.

KAL Tire has lost my business. They were always trying to sell me more parts than I needed and would play the safety cards lot. When I needed only 1 tire due to a flat, they tried to sell me 4. Never on time. Being a female, I get this often from mechanics but they are the worst.
If you were driving an AWD it is recommended to replace all tires at the same time and not just buy one tire.

For those who still believe the All Seasons will get you through winter; hope you don’t get in an accident. If it’s a 50/50 blameworthy accident, the car with winter tires gets preference with insurance claims.
I had all weather for the longest time, but got 4 winters for my ride a 4 years ago after going through the Coquihala during the winter with a friend on snow packed roads. He was riding winter tires and cruising along at 100 km. I could never do that on my all weathers with any degree of confidence. It was fthen that I decided to get the winters mounted on steelies. Good choice. A couple of years ago during a big snowstorm I was fine on fresh and packed and spent a good part of the day helping drivers either dig out, or get up slight grades I had no probs with. Out of curiosity I checked their tires and all the cars in trouble had either all season or all weather.
I have a 2019 Sierra 1500. Really hard to find a 2nd set of wheels for it since they changed the front brake callipers and older rims don’t clear them.
Since my BFG KO2’s are fairly new I’ll give them a go this year and avoid the hilly downhill sections around town!
Then go for the winters next year.
On a side note about idiots driving in the snow on summer tires I took my kids to cypress years ago.
Some moron in a RWD Porsche was trying to get up the mountain literally fish tailing side to side!
Told him “fuck buddy! Go home!” He told me to go fuck myself and mind my own business!
Went around him in my 4wd truck and snow tires! Lol!
Well when your fishtailing nearly into other cars and holding everyone else up trying to get up to ski for the day that is my business!

I already technically have “all weather tires”.
The BFG KO2’s I have are labeled with the mountain-snowflake symbol.
Lol, not going to replace my fairly new all weather tires with another set of all weathers!
