We are paying for T-2.0 to attend at Vimy and take the family to France.
You forgot about the 2 nannies to take care of the kids as well as the rest of the entourage.Since the POS is going to France on the tax payer dime I wonder if he will bring along an authentic "french chef" from Quebec to cook dinner at the Embassy Gala dinner.
Gotta wonder if the POS will turn it into a costume cosplay vacation.....no matter what it is on the tax payer dime.

There is a book called "Warlords"; its about the two Canadian Prime Ministers during WW1 and WW2. Interesting read about the politics in Canada behind the scenes and the struggle to keep the country together during wartime.

As I said Canada was never under threat as a country even with WW2.And for both Canadians VOLUNTEERED as there was no draft/conscription.In WW1 Britain was not under threat of invasion either, they came in defence of their ally France along with Russia on the other end.My grandfather was one the fortunate ones to survive Dunkirk.

If you think Canada was never under threat as a country (in WW2) maybe you should read this as it
may broaden your knowledge.

https://www.junobeach.org/canada-in-wwii/articles/submarines-attack-in-the-st-lawrence/

Kinda sounds like a country under threat to me.

Btw, almost the entire eastern US seaboard while under attack from Nazi U boats sinking
ships by the ton it was never divulged to the public until way after the war as to not create
panic amongst the civilian population. Not sure about Canada but it was all swept under the
carpet in the US.

right here and now
Where are all the ceremonies held around here??
Check your local area for the Legion- there is typically a Cenotaph nearby.
I think in your case if you Google "cenotaphs Fraser valley" you'll get quite a few hits.

I'd rather go to something more spectacular? Since I am in the big city, I might as well experience something more than a regular towns event

Depends where you are....North Van it's at Keith and Lonsdale..with a function afterwards at 6th Field. Vancouver, it's at Hastings and Cambie with functions at most of the units around the City...closest being Beatty Armoury..The Dukes, Seaforth Arnmoury in Kits and 15th Field up off Arbutus on 10th. UBC it's at Thunderbird Arena.

After 1 minute of respectfull silence after the 11th minute poppies should be removed and placed upon the Cenotaph etc. That of course is if you are respectfull and thoughtfull.

A couple of years ago I ran into some asshole at a dollarama a week AFTER Remembrance day who was sporting a poppy stuck into his baseball hat.I said that not only that it should not be worn that way but it was also a week late for removal.
Well the "super patriot" yapped and yapped and called ME out as being "un-patriotic" as I was not wearing a poppy. The asshole even went further with his harrassment when he tailgated me for 8 blocks in his shitty car thinking he was intimidating me by following me......should have slammed on the brakes and let his car eat my truck bumper.Just another asshole who would never think of attending an actual Remembrance Day ceremony and figures his way is best but at the same time the behaviour is nothing but insulting.

I left home after 12 PM today.....I did not wear the poppy I paid $20 for.

In Your Wildest Dreams!
I had some shopping to do this morning, so I checked the Guildford Town Centre website first. Seemed prudent: it's a long way to drive! Sure enough, they opened at 11.05 so that the moment of silence could be observed before they opened. Nicely done.

After 1 minute of respectfull silence after the 11th minute...
It's actually two minutes of silence commencing at 1100, but the important part is to remember.

Respect for Remembrance day or Armistice day whichever you want to call it goes well beyond
the typical day of recognition and respect. Remember it everyday throughout the year
and be solemnly thankful for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in exchange for our freedom.
