I have to admit, I have mixed feelings about this. He is 81 years old. Is prison the answer? Maybe an ankle bracelet and a rotation of guards that he would have to pay for? I actually saw him a feww years back at the river rock casino and he was already a sad pathetic old man.
I think a sentence is meant to serve two purposes. First is to punish the criminal and second, which is equally important is that it is meant to serve as a warning to others.

Let us let his old age be used as an excuse. He did wrong and he did it repeatedly.

There are no statute of limitations for a serial rapist.

He used his wealth and fame to get his victims to trust him. Then drugged them to do whatever he wanted to them.

Would one be sympathetic to a rapist who did this to a friend or family member? I don't believe anyone should get off with a slap on the wrist because of their fame or age.

Agreed. Many people go their entire lives not facing consequences..... maybe he should have thought about this forty years ago and confessed his uncontrollable urges, or better yet, asked for help before he hurt anyone

right here and now
I heard that part of his defense was that his mental disorder caused him to engage in forceful sex with younger women?
Are you fucking kidding me????
"It's not my fault" must have SOME limits, FFS!
I have no sympathy for this predator. He absolutely knew that what he was doing was 100% offside and criminal.

What I can't believe is how Crosby's family is still standing by him. 50 women have come forward to say he raped/molested them. And yet his family are still crying"miss trial" and saying he is innocent. It would not surprise me if Crosby told his family "If I go to jail, you don't get a penny! You had better find a way to keep me out of jail.".

A huge issue for his victims is this is not actually true. So far this is the only incident that fell within the statute of limitations. He's going to jail for one incident only out of his many ("alleged") other crimes. If he could be charged for all of them, it's a fair bet his sentence would be way more severe.

Anyway, that he's this old and "frail" (there's moments he's given away that he's at least partially faking/exaggerating for sympathy) only means he got away with it consequence-free during his "better years". To my mind, that's quite the opposite of a reason to go mild on him now. And given how he would look down on black kids who got in trouble with the law and did time, he damned well deserves a taste of his own medicine before he dies.

I think there's a third purpose. It gives the victims some form of closure and satisfaction that justice was served. I just wish the victims came forward a lot earlier so his miserable ass would rot in jail a lot longer before he dies.

Shame. He was a really funny guy. Wonder if he was always a psycho or if all that fame and money turned him. Who knows what all that kinda cash and fame would do to you.

I think being a celebrity makes one think that he or she is untouchable and he or she can get away with stuff that an average Joe or Jane wouldn't.

Well, I am sure he will be doing lot of stand up comedy in front of his jail mates.

Are you thinking it's not enough for all he's done, or not enough for the thing he did to the one victim he was on trial for?

As much as I'd like to see him punished for it all, the court isn't allowed to punish him for anything aside from that one woman's complaint he was on trial for. If they tried it'd be a sure fire immediate mistrial.

Maybe an ankle bracelet
Fuck that.
He is a serial habitual rapist. No chance of rehabilitation and he has no remorse at all.
Hope he dies in jail.
Also hope his victims sue him and take every cent he has. His family is probably hiding a ton somewhere.

I really doubt he needs an ankle bracelet once out. I don't think he'll be chasing young actresses with quaaludes in 3 to 10 years.

I was surprised that he actually got jail time. Not for the factor of his age but for his celebrity status. It will now get really UGLY as the Civil lawsuits get launched. It happened to OJ Simpson and it will happen to Cosby. The victims will strip him and his family of his wealth....and you can be assured it will happen.

It's not enough period, considering the case, 10 yrs should be the minimum , while it's doubtful he'll last to serve his full time sentenced, but i still think it's a joke

FWIW, 10 would've been the maximum allowable sentence. (Although that's because they allowed each of the three charges to be served concurrently. Otherwise it could've been 30.) 5-10 was the prosecution's recommendation.

I think he all ready paid some women off,

he was only found guilty in one case, so can any other victims sue him for anything, he wasn't found guilty of anything else.
perhaps, not sure on the law,

um its funny, well sad actually there are guys in jail for ten 20 years or longer, for stealing a pac of smokes,
I think the longest serving inmate is something like fifty years in jail he looted a pac of smokes or some dam thing during a riot,

I don't think the punishment ever fits the crime,
and in a way the wrong people are punished,
everyone wants punishment justice revenge,

they took my dad put him in jail,
left me and mom with an empty fridge, and rent to pay,

he got fed, t.v, he sat around and played cards.
me and mom faced the music,
I had to go to school, get a job, apply for a job, with the family name in the papers.
some how carry on while everyone knew my dad was in jail for rape.

they punish the wrong people. or the wrong people get the worst of it,
the victims, there life is changed, they have to find a way to go on. make peace with what happened make a life.

the perp in a lot of ways they go to a better life,
the only time my father was sober, was when he was in jail
they get to clear there head think, play cards get therapy medical care, etc, fed regular without having to worry about it, or work for it.

I apologize, but when someone goes to jail, I always think of the people left behind, no one thinks of them,
