"Wow! That was unexpected! Thanks for dinner. Next time is on me."

Conveys:
pleasant surprise,
gratitude,
in a friendly and casual way, a wish to meet for dinner again, and
the fact you are a gentleman.

Listen, if I may, some advice from an old guy... Treat your fellow human beings as a human being. Man, woman, gay, trans, black, white, yellow, brown. We're all equal. Someone offered you a show of kindness, embrace it, accept it. Don't be so cynical, we can't be living life checking over our shoulders all the time. Give it the benefit of doubt, I think you'll find most people are good. Somewhere out there, there's a good girl looking for a nice guy. Don't be a jerk. BE that guy.

Sunday morning sermon is over. LOL.
I learned awhile ago, after some very hard lessons...sometimes when people seek equality, they are looking for that ,and that alone......They have no other motive, but the desire to be treated as an equal member of the tribe of man.
I'd like to believe the good people, far outnumber the bad...

So, $150 at Hy's for a steak dinner date? WTF- I guess the OP ordered from the kid's menu? Or had the waiter bring shit wine? No after dinner special coffees, deserts or brandy?
I think the girl figured the OP was a bit of a nickel-squeezer and decided if she paid the bill the waiter would at least get a half decent tip.
But seriously- WTF dude? Your date picked up the bill. She's a keeper. She sees the bigger picture. If that's a problem for you let her know so she can move on to someone more appreciative.
so rude :twitch:

right here and now
so rude :twitch:
Have you ever been to Hy's? Try having a decent "steak date" for two for that price. You don't go there for a quick bite with no adds.
And you work service industry- tipping at a high end place should be in the 20% + range minimum if service is good. And tax?
Do the math.
I get that the OP may have just been opining, or bragging or whatever- but the nature of the post was asking for feedback- which he got delivered to him on a silver platter. And after considering all the responses with various commentary replies he positioned himself again with a similar incredulity of the events.
And btw- read my post again- especially the "but seriously"- which is where the tongue is removed from the cheek and the real point is made.
So wtf, Caramel- rude? I say candid.
Merry Christmas! :)

Sounds like the OP is justifying to himself that he does not deserve her as he can’t seem to accept her. So many gold diggers out there, she seems like a sweetheart not every guy can handle that I guess.

maybe OP has always with with terrible girls, that when one actually pops out of nowhere and does something nice, he literally doesn't know how to react ? :$

Personally if a girl paid for me, i would say something along the lines of you didnt have to do that but thank you! (and then do my best to pay for whatever else we have planned that day unless she insists on paying) Im just not getting the OPs reaction, like he's literally so shocked. Maybe its because im young, but in this day and age i would never bat an eye if a girl decides to pay for our date for the whole day lol i would just be grateful and super thankful and would show her that

Doesn't Costco sell Hy's gift certificates? Maybe the lady got them from someone and used them on the date. Just a guess.
