Hello all. I am wondering if anyone has any experiences with sp's asking for email transfer deposits prior to meeting, that are actually legitimate. i immediately dismiss them as frauds, as they will not fulfill my request to snap a pic out the window of their hotel to verify they are in town. I may be missing out on some amazing sex, or I may just be dodging a slippery bullet. What is your take/experience?

Absolute scam. Don't fall for it. You can kiss any "deposit" money goodbye; they are counting on pooners thinking with their small head and buying in to the fake pictures (most often super hot looking). They're also banking on defrauding small amounts: if they asked for 200 - 300 up front no one in their right mind would pay, but 40 or 60 is a low enough amount that it's unlikely the pooner getting scammed would report it/follow up/attempt recovery etc. I'd say the ONLY case where a deposit might be legit is if you make it with an agency because they are going to be way more accountable and their business will suffer if it's a scam. Otherwise, don't do it Aries!

Might be ok only if a super reputable SP... like if you want to book for an overnight don’t be surprised if they want a deposit;)

Are you talking about indies here on PERB, or with their own websites, or are you talking about advertisers on backpage late at night?

I wouldn't do it unless if it was someone I know well, but then if we both know each other well, she would not ask me for an upfront deposit anyways, so that is the end of that.

A while ago I tried to book an SP via her website and I got an email as acknowledgement. Soon a credit card number was to confirm the booking. Luckily I also texted her and made arrangements via phone. The morning of the date, I got an email saying that she is cancelling it unless I pay NOW. To make the long story short, it turned out that someone had hijacked her website and tried to scam the people who booked her. I came very close to cancelling her but I went ahead anyways (without any deposit of course). I even posted it in my review of her but she doesn't advertise or post anywhere so it doesn't matter.

Yea, so ... I wouldn't do it no matter what.

It sounds dumb to admit, but I'm talking about backpage ads, yes often at night. I mean, it does make sense, but reeks of scam.

I just give them my credit card number.
They never complain. Lol

I could see a deposit if you wanted an all nighter and were not a regular.
Because if you didn’t follow through she could potentially lose hundreds of dollars.

I personally will never use e-transfer.

Cash is king.

Yes, I agree with the overnight rule.

But still I don’t like the paper trail.

I’d rather drive down give her the deposit and drive back until our date.

There are a small but growing number of legit providers who are asking for a deposit before an appointment to new clients, as another screening criteria ostensibly because of a high volume of no shows. It can be incredibly difficult to determine who is legit and who is not. That said, if it's not from a well known/reviewed provider, to the exact email and/or phone from her ads on a legit site, I wouldn't do it. If they are advertising on BP, never do it.

Pay my favourite in advance all the time.
No problem if it is someone you know and trust.

But this is an epidemic on backpage.
Lots of scammers with fake pics, no reviews, bullshit stories when you contact them...

I ask for deposits on longer dates (typically 4 hours or more) if I have not previously met the client. It ensures my time is secured with him, and if either of us has to cancel the date the deposit can either be returned or held for the next date. I wouldn't suggest doing it for ladies without reviews/a solid reputation. You can change the name on your online banking so that she doesn't see your legal name. Trust your instincts!

My issue is still the many fraudsters demanding a deposit.
Lady Roberta is a good example.
If guys were not falling for the scam "Lady Roberta" would not be spending money on ads all across the country.

Established ladies like VictoriaJolie or SensualRiley are totally trustworthy and have never let me down.

The issue is not really about money or the legitimacy of the provider. The issue is about privacy and paper/digital trails email transfer would leave.

We are all private persons with private lives. Some of us may have public life or ambition for it.

Why would anyone make email transfer and potentially jeopardize their privacy?
