Yes I suppose there is something to be said for the old adage...." If you don't ask, you don't get "
There are certain instances where suggested retail can be negotiated, yet you don't try it in other markets....it is socially unacceptable.
But we are not talking about "the suggested retail"....but "suggested tail" who are human beings ,with real feelings, and emotions, giving a customer access to otherwise very private encounters....and their going rate is compensation....and potential access to that service.
To barter down ,or try to attempt a conversation to negotiate a rate, is saying to them ....your not worth what your asking, so I'll make you an offer....rationalizing it as an offer, for the same service, for a lesser rate.
That discussion might be ok in my books.....if SHE starts it, otherwise the gentleman in me wouldn't allow it.
The only instance I can think of relating to the service from another individual, that might be negotiated is a salesman on a commission basis, a technician that's willing to work on contract...or perhaps a lawyer. You hire them to enhance a potential outcome, and there going rates are sometimes variable.
I'm not really sure if that would apply here, as there is no contract, just a verbal agreement with a complete random stranger.
