Now that I got your attention ( lol ), I was just wondering what you think of them this year.

They have been going downhill along with Sedins' age and I did not watch even a single game last year. The start this year seems promising but like coach Travis Green said, "It's just eleven games." Some young kids look good but I feel Canucks are still not going to make it to the final eight in Western Conference.

Seems like there is more and more parity in NHL now, more than ever. Thanks to Gary Buttman (as Neil Mcrae used to call him). Chicago is just not the same anymore. I kind of miss the days of dynasties. Oh well.......

My second point is their games on TV. Clearly they have chosen to go to PPV for many games. I can see them making money there but as a fan, I feel that it lessens my interest in them. Also, we have been used to watching pretty much alll of them games on TV ever since Brian Burke (hated him, but this is one good thing he did) decided to put most of them on cable.

Are you sure you want the Canucks to do well? From the two times they have done it and CHOKED it ended up with a RIOT with douchebags trashing downtown Vancouver and looting/pillaging.

From the last time I remember video of some douchebag jumping up and down on a gal's car and crushing in the roof....had that been MY car the guy would have gotten served up a meal of "tire iron to the chops".

Seems to me that Vancouver Canucks fans are the same as the Montreal fans.....the the team loses so it is an excuse to destroy property and steal.......it is the track record thus far.

Personally I have not watched a hockey game since 2 lockouts back.....I got sick of listening to whiney millionaires arguing with whiney billionaires......same as I dont give a rats ass about celebrities etc.

None of them have MY best interests at heart...truth be told they could not give a flying fuck.

Going to a hockey game on a date is a spectacular waste of money....count in dinner/tickets/parking/beers and so forth and if the gal does not put out you get to go home and do some pushups and then fuck the sleeve of your favorite jacket LOL.

Yes I am CYNICAL....but in a good way.

Gary FUCKIN Buttman. LOL!! I loved Neil Mcrae. He should be GM and coach of the Nucks.
The two year dynasty I miss is when the Bruins SWEPT the ICE with those mother lovin Habs. When was that?
'88 and '89? Damn can't remember just now.

I'm with you about the Canucks T8E, but ever since the NHL turned it into a business it has lost
most of the allure that it used to have. The Sedins are done and just like the organization they
are sucking out the last little bit of their contract from the hind tit.
I mean who wouldn't? Fuck they don't play anywhere near the minutes they used to and get payed the same and if the new talent doesn't watch it, they'll be chucked out to clean the ice with those
hottie babes in their tight leotards and the Sedin sisters will have to try and earn their money again.

So in reality if some business owner is going to do that for me why the hell would I quit.
On the other hand they do have some interesting new talent that may make me sit down and watch a game or two.
But don't fuck it up youngins or I'm gonna turn the channel and watch more fake news on CNN!! LOL!!

Jesus Christ SR I never thought I'd agree with you about anything. You and me both, sick and tired of listening to
whiney millionaires and billionares especially that ***** **** ******* Buttman.

Like someone once said bro, people who pay money to go see a Canucks game?
Would pay to see shit float. :pound:
You have promise my man. :D

yes, quartermiler, the Bruins won a playoff series over the Habs, think it was 1988...and the first time they'd done it since the 40's,lol.
Forget how many series Mtl won in between, certainly double digits.

It is strange that someone with your knowledge of hockey would refer to the Sedins as "sisters"...both won scoring titles have played 16(sp?) seasons, which would
indicate durability, and they haven't missed many games.I agree they are on the downside but can still provide leadership even with a significant reduction
of ice time and stats.

Loved the comment about paying to see shit float, lol.

Oh for sure Grusse. Those few moments of Bruins stardom just stand out that much better to me, IMO... LOL!!

Totally agree with your stats about the sedin's. Personally I was quoting whoever the hell it was that put the name
out their as being the "sisters". God that was a long time ago. Can't remember where it came from but it just stuck
in my memory as being funny. Also I believe they were called the mattress twins at one point.
Now where the hell that came from I have no idea.

Glad you liked the last comment. I'm still trying to remember who I heard that from.
It was years ago as well but I do believe it was posted on here.

And me taking the reins from Badger John? Do I really resemble that remark? WOW!!
I'm not that cynical am I?

Well he would probably do a lot more than Jim Benning.

Hmmmm, I wonder? LOL!! I knew he had passed away, god rest his soul and he will always be remembered
as being one of the best crytics there was. His combining of his spitting venom at the things that chafed
his ass was unforgettable not to mention combined with his diplomatic style (sometimes) to cover his ass
was the best sarcasm one could ever hope to hear. He was a great radio personality for sure.

When it comes down to it ALL sports athletes are vastly overpaid and this is due to the agents representing them. The owners pay the money and then raise ticket prices as well the price of food and drink.

The worst 2 BLIPS I saw with regards to the NHL were Lindross and Daigle.Lindross signed a rookie contract that paid him more than Gretzky so of course Greztky/Lemieux/Hull and so on and so on wanted more money. Then Daigle got paid more than Lindross and it started all over again and this was BEFORE the first NHL lockout/strike.Lindross turned out to be injury prone and a magnet for consussions whereas Daigle just plain sucked and did not deliver on his supposed potential.

All of this in the NHL has also happened in MLB and the NFL as well as the NBA....though why anybody would want to watch basketball is beyond me....stupid useless game and I am ashamed that a Canadian invented it.

I have been to 1 Flames game and the tickets were free.It was the final game of the season and the team did not make the playoffs and to top it off it was "fan appreciation night" and when I ordered a couple of over priced hot dogs they were THROWN at me by some surly wage slave. No fucking way I would EVER spend my hard earned money on going to a game again to experience that.

Whiney Billionaires argueing with whiney Millionaires and the true casualty are the fans who get reamed in the ass.

Gotta second that one as well bro.

Hard to believe that the players we look upon as the greats of Hockey like Gordie Howe made a mear 5000 bucks
a year playing the game. Sure that was a long time ago but taking into consideration the amount 5000 was worth
back then it doesn't even come close to what 6 or more million a year is today.

Also something that struck my interest was on Team 1040 last week they talked about the interesting thing that
they noticed how most every arena is so empty and said the NHL has reached it's saturation point.
So true. The damn tickets are so expensive people are staying home to watch the games on TV
if they are really interested.

Of course it's the combination of everything going out to a game. It has gotten ridiculously expensive
no doubt.

$40 a seat too expensive? Two seats, dinner and parking around $200.

I actually like sitting in the 300 level. Good view of both teams offensively and defensively. I never complain when the corporate types share their club seats :)

No way it's this year or even next year. My guess is we're 3-4 years away from seeing a good Canucks team again, depending on how Juolevi pans out.

You cant compare the past with the present with regards to salaries as the costs of living was/is different. How much did a house cost 50-60 years ago and the same for a new car?Hell how much was a litre of gasoilne in say 1967?

As for some arena's being half full that might be the case for the Coyotes but even during this recession in Cowtown EVERY game is a sell out and tickets get sold for more than the face value on a consistent basis.Keeping that in mind I dont think the valuable NHL teams that do have sell out games for the whole season should be sharing revenue with teams that can barely stay afloat because they are not realistic viable market for the NHL the the Coyotes are the best example.

Although it's too late I would have loved to go to any MTL game wearing my Bruins #4
Bobby Orr jersey. Don't say it!! LOL!!

50-60 years ago you could buy a house for around 10,000 on average. Howe making 5000 a year is still no comparison
to making 6 million a year today with regards to what you say about cost of living was/is.
Wages and inflation are pretty much on par with what things cost back 50-60 years ago.
A brand new Pontiac fire chief sedan in 1952 cost 1250 bucks and it didn't even come with signals.
They were an option. Anyway average wage earned in '52 about 2500 a year. Pretty damn close
to what it is today percentage/inflation wise. Average wage today, is what? 45,000-50,000 per year.

A new car will cost you about half that today. So there you go. About the same percentage back then
as what it is today. So how the hell can you say you can't compare the past with the present.
It's all relative man.

That 6 million a year today can buy 6 nice houses on average. 5000 a year back in Gordie Howes day could
buy half a house if he was lucky.
The other thing back then management ruled the working class hockey players as they were known then.
Only today we have the whiney millionaires and billionaires going at it.

Back when Gordie Howe made 5000 a year that was on par with what most people made on average back say in
'67. Do you really think that a hockey player making 6 million today is on par with the average wage earner
today? You can't be serious.

There are many other teams with the same problem as the Coyotes. Maybe Cowtown's an exception as there are exceptions.

Most teams are NOT selling out their arenas according to what I heard on team 1040.
About that sharing revenue thing with other teams you'll have to talk to Buttman about that.
That is a business owner thing.

But otherwise are you saying the have teams must give up revenue to the have not teams ticket sales wise?
That I never knew. Can you point me to some sources please?
Interesting concept.
