He said he tried to hold it in but he couldn't, he was so moved by his passing.
Exactly. Grief supersedes one's position or standing. To proclaim otherwise just shows ignorance of true feelings.
I personally broke down in front of a group of professionals and project managers when informed of the passing of a brother-in-law. Not because I was particularly close to him, but because of the positive impact he had on my wife through the years, and understanding the angst that she would be enduring. I get choked up just typing this, and it was many years ago.
To say a politician should know better or be held to a different standard just shows the immaturity of the source.
People are people and our reactions can't always be scripted.
But I don't want to hijack the thread or digress from the loss felt by so many with Gord's passing.
I know that I will miss him.

:focus: Gord Downie was a true ambassador to Canada. through his lyrics he inspired the world, gave hope, where there was darkness.. but, you know what even in dying a faster fatale disease, Gord showed inner strength most could learn from.... in todays world Gord is a true leader, without tears, emulating truthful cause till the end on this great earth. we will miss him, heaven will greet him. eternally. :amen:

Anyone see Trudeau crying on the news this morning. In English and in French!
WOW...our PM at his best....quite the DRAMA TEACHER....
I didn't see him cry when our soldiers, police officers or a fire fighters die doing their jobs.

RIP Gord...and thanks for the great songs. You will be missed.

not denying this for a second. but in politics, stand strong or they will eat you(nafta) .... let me up, to PM.. I can say some very nice words for Gord. then I would bring home the deal to protect our resource as the country we are. as a active stock trader , our country is rich, if represented properly, with out tears showing weakness, grow up and here are the jobs, ask Alberta if they disagree ??

What do you expect from that idiot Trudeau....of course he will shed Crocodile Tears as it is good for scoring support versus the scorn his proposed tax changes has garnered.Nothing but pathetic pandering distributed by the Left Wing media who love to pander to Trudeau.

As for the passing of Gord Downie it is a shame but the writing was on the wall.....just a matter of time when you have terminal brain cancer.I am not a fan same as I am not a fan of RUSH and mainly because the narrow focussed radio stations in Canada play maybe 3 or 4 songs by both of those bands and after you hear them each day and every day you get to loath them.Seriously how many times can you listen to Tom Sawyer by Rush.....hell just thinking about it makes me want to smash in Geddy Lee's head in with his base guitar...that and his voice is annoying.

Not a fan but I guess I can say for Gord Downie is that the flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long.....he had no choice on that though. For all that he championed at least he was not a hypocrite traitor like Neil Young. He wrote his music and entertained a great many people and brought a lot of happiness to many.He will be missed and those fans that attended the most truest "farewell" concert tour got entertained and I think that was his real end goal.To go out standing up and with style and to also give his fans one last chance to see the band.

Well to be honest the radio selection of a lot of bands is really narrow.Good example is Pink Floyd and I love Pink Floyd yet I cant stand to listen to "money" or "another brick in the wall" or "comfortably numb".....those are pretty much the only Pink Floyd songs you hear on the radio....never do you hear "poles apart" or "coming back to life" from the Division Bell same as you rarely hear "learning to fly".Other examples are Journey/Styx/Van Halen where the radio only plays a mix of say 4 or 5 songs.Best example is Boston where the only 2 songs you hear are "more than a feeling" and "smokin" from the debut album......never a song from the albums past Third Stage....you never hear "what's your name" or "surrender to me" or "walk on" or "get organized" same goes with the Tragically Hip and of course RUSH and I dont care if Neil Peart is considered the greatest drummer of ALL time....I have no interest when all I hear are maybe 3-4 songs played endlessly over and over again.

Back to my point though and that was how Trudeau was an opportunistic POS in shedding his Crocodile Tears.....nice easy attention grabber to connect him with "average Canadians" and when I say Crocodile Tears I mean it to the the LITERAL....a Crocodile only sheds TEARS as it feeds.....just like the only time you see a shark "grin/smile" is when it is about to rip you in half.In Trudeau's case he shed his Crocodile Tears to shore up support for his shitty out of touch entitled government and of course the Leftist Canadian Media pandered to him and kissed his ass.
