There are always exceptions, but the above are excuses for most people. The simple fact is "mental health", or "stress" isn't the reason we have an obesity epidemic, and so many kids are developing adult-onset diabetes at 12.There are just too many variables.
Type of foods. Combination of foods. Quantities of foods. Access to foods. Cost of foods. Proteins and contents of foods.
Then there is lifestyle. Family. Careers. Schedules. Stresses. Workloads. Commitments. Time management. Convenience.
Throw in education. Mental health. Depression. Medications. Abilities. Personal biology.
These are not excuses- they are realities for many.
One size does not fit all. Simplifying to "choice" is unrealistic, IMO. Sure, we all have choices- but are they palatable or relative to our own situations?
And this comes from someone who is reasonably fit, mentally (debatable?) and physically healthy, relatively affluent with less responsibilities and commitments than the average bear.
But like anything, success takes very hard work- and effort counts.
A great many people are willfully too inactive, and eat too much of foods they know are bad for them. Those are choices.
