Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words......I got to 100 mile to set up our section of fire line.....and was told just after my feet hit the ground that my guys were in Cache Creek - Ashcroft fighting another fire.
The wind had kicked up there to 75 Klms.......that damn fire grew into 700 hectares in a few hours.
I could see the mushroom cloud from the spot I was standing.......that's about 120 Klms away.
Absolute devastation.....the dry vegetation, the high wind and low humidity gave that fire the chance to turn into a firestorm......I can't talk about it much, but there will be many homes lost, and all the people evacuated to Kamloops have no idea.
By the time the big brass figured out they had kept me outta the loop, and fucked up, an hour and a half was wasted getting me to the right spot.....we did what we could, but it wasn't enough.....
I swear......even this Cowboy was choking them back.
Back home to feed and do some paperwork.....back out tomorrow morning, when air support is possible.
