Seeking advice on which lawnmower is good quality and reliable, Toro with Honda engine, Honda's own mower, industrial mowers? Standard size lot of grass to cut, no big acreage. Thanks

Gas power=Honda. Expensive but worth it. Hassle keeping gas on hand though. I use it in spring or when lawn is really rough.

I use an electric Black and Decker for a 65x120 yard. Use two batteries, mow front one day, back next day. EGO 56V is the current gold standard for electrics. When DeWalt comes out with theirs I will get it. They have a nice lineup of 60v tools.

Varies now
I have 3 young summer students cutting with a 65 horse power Kubota and a 96 inch finishing mower and/or a 6 foot bush hog. A John Deere Z-steer for up tight and close and a JD 320 with a 48" deck to catch up. Then there is the weed whacking. Non commercial, just a huge yard.

I always use TORO. I find the hondas to be a bit too heavy for just home use. Also ,the honda tends to have problems with the self propel more often than the TORO in my experience. Whichever you decide upon, I suggest getting a rear bagger. The side bagger can be a nuisance and tends to get worn out faster.

Thanks for the sound advice. Very much appreciated. I think I will go with the Toro with the Honda engine. My old one: a wheel fell off, the engine smokes while running, it is heavy to push in the heat, etc
Time for a good mower. As the old expression goes, "You get what you pay for!"

Coincidentally, I just switched from a gas one to a cordless/battery powered one. My previous one was self-propelled and after over 15 years of service, it had started to sputter.

I just got a new EGO one from Home Depot. 20-inch 56V Lithium-Ion Cordless Push Lawn Mower with 5.0 Ah Battery It is 56V Lithium-Ion 4.0 Amp Hour Battery. I am very happy with it, so far. Mind you it has only been used about five six times. No more stink of gas and smoke. Hassle free, one touch starting. Quieter, much quieter. Lighter. No more dragging the electric cord around. Good for the environment. Easy to store and works very well.

Last time I charged it was about a month ago and I have used it twice with about two weeks gap between without recharging it. Mind you my lawn is not that big, I would stay total is about 3000 sq ft and the surface is totally flat.

It was not easy to swipe my credit card for over 600 bucks, but now I am glad I did.

Out of gas-powered, electric, and battery powered, I would advice you to pick the last one.

Almost 2 acres, mostly lawn here. For years we had an Ariens 15HP then got a Lawnboy Zeroturn. Cut the mowing time by almost 75% Had one major problem with it. I have had to replace the starter motor twice now in 5 years. This spring we found a EGO electric at an excellent price. very lightly used. WOW quiet, fast, efficient and the lawn looks the best is has iin years.. Secret is mow high and mow often.. Only one battery so takes much longer to mow but damn its quiet, easy to use. stores an a small space. Great mower, that is easy to use on fairly steep banks. Other problem I have had with both lawn tractors is we have a lot of blackberries here. I am forever driving over them and have to repair flat tires. even bough a small tire machine for this. Don't know what this has to do with pooning, so why am I answering this.. Just another of my interests I guess.

Yup, and, for rotary types, keep the blades sharp & balanced (not razor sharp, but the recommended butter knife sharp). Having a second set of blades helps. If your soil is sandy, you may be changing out the blades/sharpening often, but it is worth it. For reel types... who sharpens these in town? The place down by the Oak St. bridge is closed down I think. :typing:

EGO sounds good.
I want to have as few different charger/battery combinations as possible.
I have a bunch of Milwaukee tools, Black and Decker mower, and a Ryobi string trimmer. Three chargers, maybe a dozen batteries.

There should be more standardisation and interchangablility.

I've used a Mclane self propelled reel front throw mower for the past 10 years. Cuts like a golf course. Had it serviced just once since I got it. Love, love love it!

All you men speaking about lawnmowers is actually turning me on....weird but good.
Lol. There's two things I get distracted by while driving. One is haawwt women (especially those in those spray-painted on blue jeans)... and... two... manicured lawns. :amen:
