I really thought Trump would lose the united states election I was wrong .
Yeah, but the conditions in the USA were ripe for something like that to happen. A entire swath of the population has been left behind because of corporate trade deals, career politicians, etc. And the elite types look down on these people as the "small people" so they rose up in numbers. I think a percentage of Trump supporters are redneck bigots. I think a just as large number of supporters were people just really sick and tired of the whole political system. Is it any different here? Look at the politics in BC, Alberta or Ontario. People are pissed off & rightly so.
I don't think O'Leary is going to win the leadership race & even if he did I don't think he'd win the election. There is too large of a swath of Canada that isn't going to embrace a guy like that (Quebec, Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, East Coast, Vancouver/Victoria). And, isn't Trudeau really just a "reality TV star" of sorts? He's did very little in the past year regarding major issues but is still quite popular. Say what you want about JT, but he's a smart marketer just like Jack Layton was. He's used his reality TV star like appearance only he's combined it with a positive message & rang the bell of the selfie generation. The older, white generation just hates that shit because it works (though they were fine when Rob Ford did it). Trudeau, rightly or wrongly, is a pretty smart guy. He knows to pay attention to shit that matters to the average guy. Very few people will care he took an illegal helicopter ride to some place they never heard of. MANY people will care they can buy a bag of weed at Safeway. O'Leary doesn't have a chance.
