So what are agentwhte's reasons for Calgary winning this series?
I need to know before I call my bookie.

I think I would win with that line up as well. Vancouver in 7. Van has more depth right now.You entitle the thread Why the Canucks will lose to Calgary. Then you give no other specifics of why.
1) Is it because of Calgary's depth on Defense? Giordano out. But Diaz and Wideman are Superior to the Canucks blueline?
2)) Is it because Calgary's Goaltending duo of Hiller and Ortio is superior to Lack and Miller?
3) Calgary's depth at forward after their first line is outstanding? They have Monahan, Gudreau and Holder on their top line. So who else remember Bouma just broke his hand ? Matt Stajan? Mason Raymond?
4) Their power play and penalty kill units are far superior to anything that Vancouver can put on the ice.?
5) Flames Coaching staff is that much superior to Vancouver's.
Sure Hartley won a cup. With Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Rob Blake, Patrick Roy, Ray Bourque, Adam Foote, Milan Hejduk and Chris Drury. Does he have that line up of NHL Allstars and future first ballot hall of famers going into this series. Hardly He has a lunch pail crew that works hard with a bunch of kids that haven't played in the NHL playoffs.
and the only one to win was the flames in '89. Tell me again how many cups have the canucks won. I don't think the people on this board how hated the canucks are outside of the lower mainland. it doesn't matter who they play against most of the country will cheer for the other teamthe last 3 times Flames&'Nucks met in playoffs the winner went to the Stanley Cup final....Flames in 1989&2004, Canucks in 2011.
that, and $2.75, gets you on the bus.
I was watching a fluff piece on how hard it was to get playoff tickets - you could still get tickets at face value from the box office in Vancouver. We don't give a Fuck they're our Team!
Bulletin-board material: Why your team won’t win the Stanley Cup
This is the third straight year (2013, 2014) we’ve done this, and so far we’ve only been wrong twice. Try and find more accurate NHL predictions than that.
Calgary Flames: The worst team to make the playoffs. And we’re not even talking about their advanced stats, which are indeed awful. According to the standings, they were the worst team to make the playoffs. In a related story, it’s kinda funny how people are comparing this year’s Flames to last year’s Avalanche. Um, hello? The Avs won the Central and had a Vezina Trophy finalist in goal. The Flames finished third in the Pacific and have Jonas Hiller in goal. On top of that, they’re without Mark Giordano. Good. Night.
Vancouver Canucks: The second-worst team to make the playoffs. Somehow, the Canucks were lucky enough to match up with the Flames in the first round. Their luck won’t last long, though. Vancouver entered the season with the misguided goal of getting back to the playoffs, and can’t stop bragging that it accomplished that goal. While ownership will be happy with a couple of playoff gates, what this team really did was blow its chance to start a much-needed rebuild, and in a draft year with two “generational” talents to boot. Instead, the Canucks think they can “continue to build this team and be a playoff contender every year,” which is another way of saying they’d like to have their cake and eat it too. Question: if Jim Benning is such a genius at identifying talent, how does one explain Luca Sbisa?
I think you need to talk to people who actually don't live in BC. I am from Montreal and Vancouver was very much liked in Quebec and easily the second favourite team of many after our own. I have worked much around North America and Vancouver is often liked in many places as a hockey team and the Sedins high respect. I think your own insecurities in BC make it easy to assume other hate you and I find it funny that the only people who worry about ancient Stanley Cups are either Oiler fans or those who didn't win one decades ago. Anything won by players no longer in the league or anything more than about a generation back is irrelevant. Get over yourselves Vancouver fans and realize you are not a hated team, no one cares about old cups won or lost and just play good hockey and support your team.and the only one to win was the flames in '89. Tell me again how many cups have the canucks won. I don't think the people on this board how hated the canucks are outside of the lower mainland. it doesn't matter who they play against most of the country will cheer for the other team
So I hope you realize since expansion in 1967 the opportunities to win a cup become less and less especially when you figure in multiple cup winners and so called Dynasty teams. Most of those teams also were before the salary cap was brought into play.
Teams beside Vancouver Canucks 1970 that haven't won a cup.
St Louis Blues 1967, Buffalo Sabres 1970, Washington Capitals 1973, Winnipeg Jets 1979/ Pheonix Coyotes 1996, San Jose Sharks 1991, Ottawa Senators 1992, Florida Panthers 1992, since the late 1990's Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, Columbus Blue Jackets.
Vancouver has one cup victory as a city in 1915 as the millionaires as a member of the NHA Pacific Coast. Before the creation of the NHL. Numerous titles in the Western pro league as well in the 1950's 1960's. Western pro league champion 1969-1970 before leaving that league and joining the NHL. We've had 3 cup appearances in the finals. 1981,1994 and 2011. Losing in game 7 of both 94 and 2011.
Calgary has one cup in 1989 and that makes you sooooooooooooooooo much better. Been to the finals 3 times 2 losses 1 win.
Edmonton has 5 cups four from the 1980's- with Gretzky and 1 from the 1990's without him. 1 Stanley Cup final birth since then.
Toronto hasn't been to a Stanley cup final since they won the cup pre expansion in 1966-1967 season.
Winnipeg doesn't have a Stanley Cup to their Credit. Since joining the NHL moving to Pheonix or their rebirth from the Atlanta Thrashers franchise.
Montreal Has numerous cup pre and post expansion. Last Canadian team to win a cup in 1993. Haven't been back to a finals since.
Ottawa made the finals but lost to the Anaheim Ducks. Ottawa Senators won the Stanley Cup back in the golden age of hockey in the early 1920's. They have banners commemorating that in their building but none since they returned as a expansion team.
Even more coveted than a Stanley Cup how many NHL first overall draft choices have the Canucks had. Answer 0 Canucks have had no First overall draft selected players selected by them or have been in a position to select first overall.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_first_overall_NHL_draft_picks
How many of those teams who had great first round draft choices used that player as the hallmark of future cups
Edmonton has had 3 over the past few years and is still stumbling and bumbling through seasons with them.
I think Trevor would approve of you modeling his jersey- sales should definitely increase. Is it Game Time yet?

I was in Victoria one yr,forget who the Canucks were playing in the playoffs but in 2 different pubs I was in,better than 50% were cheering for the other team.and the only one to win was the flames in '89. Tell me again how many cups have the canucks won. I don't think the people on this board how hated the canucks are outside of the lower mainland. it doesn't matter who they play against most of the country will cheer for the other team
I though Jonas Hiller was dynamite! Lack was O.K. but shaky at times.this series can go either and likely go the distance.
but I'll give the edge to Canucks for deeper bench and a better goaltending duo.
I love my Jets but I think that the Canucks are now my 2nd favorite. :eyebrows:Is it Game Time yet?

Thanks Jethro! It was a hell of a game! We had a fabulous time, great seats, the team played with tremendous heart (for the most part); Eddie Lack stood on hi head all night, but the guys let him down in the last few minutes! I'm really hoping they make it through.I love my Jets but I think that the Canucks are now my 2nd favorite. :eyebrows:
Yeah...It was really exciting hockey RIGHT UP UNTIL the last 30 seconds of the game! Goalie battles are alway fun to watch but a few more goals by the guys wearing blue would have been even more fun! They capitalized on 2 breakdowns in the third period. Game could have gone either way. That's why it's a best of 7.
