With cell phones and tablets being so convenient, how often do you use a PC now? Do you even have a computer anymore?

in order of most used to least - S3 phone that I use as a lifeline, hp envy in living room as media centre sometimes photo processing machine, asus pc for work/hobby/photo edits whatever at my desk, macbook air for when i travel/bedroom when I'm home, samsung tablet I kind of use when I'm in bed mostly for web browsing

needless to say I really like computers, as great as having a phone that can do so much is.. a real computer is far from obsolete for most of what I need to do beyond shop online and stare mindlessly at instagram

In order of usage (most to least)
iPhone ->Home computer -> ipad

I have to say I really prefer my ipad but there are a lot of things it can't do. Lack of flash support is a big negative for the ipad.

I count 3 computers, 1 smartphone and 1 tablet... That seems a little overwhelming and difficult to keep track of, is all your data in the cloud or on a server somewhere so you can access it all?

I use my iPhone when I'm out, and my Macbook when I'm at home. I see no need for an iPad at this time...
I have to say though. I love my iPad most for watching movies on the couch. Much better than the TV. You put on some good headphones and with the tablet in hand... it's very immersive. Feels like you are at the movie theatre! (without all the other annoying people around).

OK but how is that experience different from doing the same thing with a 13" Macbook?

Hmm well. If you are holding the ipad the screen is much closer and seems bigger. The sound through the headphones is outstanding!

The retina screen is also amazing!

OK, thanks for the info. I've always been amazed by the possibilities, I just haven't been able to justify the expenditure!

My IPad has me by the balls, I can't seem to put it down. I have an iPhone which also gets lots of use but the 2 pc's haven't been updated in months just doing it now and I thought tablets were a joke when I first saw them. Back engineered from the bridge of Startrek next gen, nerds love this stuff and I'm becoming one.
I agree. When the iPad came out at first, I thought it was the stupidest thing ever. Then I bought one.... I am on my third iPad now. It's amazing. When you pair it up with the Logitech Bluetooth keyboard... it's a kickass little laptop.

still a hardcore pc user
virtually all my media I consume is via my laptop (more space, bigger screen, more versatility, games)

while I wouldn't mind a tablet, I can't justify the expense quite yet.

All the time.

Many of the larger web sites recognize when you are using a mobile device and send you to a watered down version that typically is much harder to navigate and contains much less information, and is much less flexible to use. And they will NOT let you leave that version of the site. Annoys the hell out of me. Apps published by various vendors are especially bad in this respect. I want access to everything that is on the full website, not a water down version, or an app.

IMO mobile devices are best used as readers/viewers. So, reading news, messages and things of that nature. Pretty much everything else a PC blows mobile out of the water.

So sad that movies are all 1080p or lower, so retina does squat :)

I'm thinking about getting an Ipad - but I have a Windows computer.

I usually download the movies from the internet in .avi to my computer and then convert them and transfer them over to my Samsung android phone to view.

Would I still be able to transfer my movies over to the Ipad to watch?

I'm assuming because it's 2 different systems - no?

You can stream from iTunes to any iOS device, I believe it is only for mp4 files though. Theresa also airplay mirroring and if you are watching them offline you can just copy it over to your iPad.
